The Christmas program of the Municipality of Mariglianella, featuring festive lights, charity, music, and Neapolitan comedy.
Christmas in Mariglianella is the holiday festival promoted by the municipal administration of Mariglianella, a town of just over seven thousand inhabitants in the Metropolitan City of Naples, in Campania, located about twenty kilometers from the regional capital in the Nolano area between Marigliano and Brusciano. For nearly a month, from the Feast of the Immaculate Conception until early January, Piazza Municipio, Via Parrocchia, the Town Hall, and the Via Torino gym become the stage for a calendar designed for families, young people, associations, and the entire community.
The official start takes place on December 8th with the lighting ceremony, the most anticipated and well-attended moment: it is the signal that the holidays have begun, with the town center streets illuminated and people gathering in the square. It is a simple yet heartfelt ritual that, in many towns in the Neapolitan province, marks the symbolic opening of the Christmas season and sets the tone for everything that follows.
A significant part of the program is dedicated to charity. The Pro Loco organizes the Telethon Christmas Campaign along Via Guglielmo Marconi, with stalls and fundraising for research into rare genetic diseases. In January, it is time for the Social Tombola at the Town Hall, hosted by the Pulcinella Angelo Iannelli: the Neapolitan tombola, with its "speaking" numbers and the traditional dream interpretation (smorfia), remains one of the most deeply rooted collective rituals in Campania and here becomes an opportunity for generations to meet.
On December 28th, Via Parrocchia hosts "Christmas Courtyards", the most evocative evening of the festival: street performers, wandering musicians, and tastings of local products transform the courtyards and alleys of the historic center into a walking route filled with lights, shows, and local flavors. A widespread format that highlights the town's everyday spaces and invites people to rediscover them in a new light.
The entertainment portion of the program features well-known names from the Neapolitan scene. Piazza Municipio hosts a concert by Gianni Mobilia, while the Via Torino gym hosts comedy nights featuring stars such as Simone Schettino, Francesco Procopio, and Ciro Ceruti, familiar faces from cabaret and Neapolitan comic theater. These are the evenings that close the program and attract audiences from neighboring towns as well.
More than just a single event, Christmas in Mariglianella is a widespread project that involves associations, the parish, schools, and local entities, coordinated by the Municipality of Mariglianella. The administration's stated goal is to bring the town to life during the holidays, offering free opportunities for socializing and keeping popular Neapolitan traditions alive. For those visiting the Nolano area during the Christmas season, it is an opportunity to experience an authentic Christmas, far from the major tourist circuits, made of lights, music, and local community spirit.
The Municipality of Mariglianella (Naples) presented a widespread program that accompanied the town from December 8, 2025, to January 4, 2026, with initiatives designed for families, young people, and local associations.
The opening took place on December 8th at 6:00 PM with the lighting ceremony. On December 14th, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Via Guglielmo Marconi, the Telethon Christmas Campaign was held, organized by the Pro Loco. On December 28th, there was a double event: at 7:00 PM on Via Parrocchia, "Christmas Courtyards" featured street performers, wandering musicians, and local tastings, and at 9:30 PM in Piazza Municipio, the concert by Gianni Mobilia took place.
The finale was held in early January: on January 2nd, at 8:00 PM in the Town Hall, the Social Tombola with Pulcinella Angelo Iannelli; on January 3rd, at 8:30 PM in the Via Torino gym, a comedy show with Simone Schettino and Francesco Procopio; on January 4th, at the same venue and time, the show by Ciro Ceruti "Shit Life – Vita da attore".
The events take place in Mariglianella (NA), in Campania: Piazza Municipio, Via Parrocchia (historic center), Via Guglielmo Marconi, the Town Hall at Via Parrocchia 48, and the municipal gym on Via Torino.
By car: from the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway, take the Pomigliano d'Arco/Nola exit, or via the Asse Mediano; Mariglianella is about 20 km from Naples. By train: Circumvesuviana station (Naples-Nola-Baiano line) in Marigliano, a few minutes from the center of Mariglianella. By plane: Naples-Capodichino airport, about 25 minutes away by car.
The events in the municipal program are traditionally free of charge. For the updated program, schedules, and any changes, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Mariglianella (tel. +39 081 8411222).
