Christmas markets, ice rink, and Ferris wheel at the Nola Christmas village
Just a few kilometers from the historic center of Nola, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, the Vulcano Buono designed by Renzo Piano is one of the most recognizable landmarks in Campania: a large cone open to the sky, featuring an internal circular plaza that becomes the natural stage for Christmas Dreams in winter. Since 2023, the Christmas village has occupied the Arena Spettacoli and adjacent galleries, turning a shopping center into a true Christmas destination for the Nola area, the Vesuvius region, and the Agro Nocerino-Sarnese.
The event space spans over 3,000 square meters and is fully themed. The path winds through festive lights, a fifteen-meter-tall Christmas tree, a reindeer-drawn sleigh for traditional photos, and the Christmas Gallery, where wooden chalets house artisans, gift ideas, and seasonal gastronomic specialties. Surrounding the arena are the attractions that have made the event popular: the ice skating rink, the Ferris wheel, and an illuminated carousel.
The heart of Christmas Dreams lies in its daily entertainment program, which remains free throughout the duration of the village. Jugglers, stilt walkers, clowns, magicians, and elves take turns on the stage and in the internal squares with parades, dancing, and music. A major highlight is the puppet theater by the Mario Ferraioli company, a beloved appointment for families in Campania linked to the traditional Neapolitan guarattelle and figure theater, which finds a new audience here. The calendar is completed by creative workshops for children and meetings with Santa Claus.
Born as a shopping center initiative, Christmas Dreams has grown rapidly to become one of the most popular Christmas events in the province of Naples, drawing visitors from Nola to Acerra, Marigliano, Cimitile, and Palma Campania. The formula works because it combines two things never missing at Christmas in Campania: the desire to be among people and the ritual of festive lights. Unlike Alpine markets, the atmosphere here is Mediterranean and evening-oriented, with families arriving after dinner and young people meeting at the ice rink until late.
The village opens in mid-November and remains active until Epiphany, January 6th. The busiest days are the weekends in December, December 8th, and the period between Christmas and New Year's: those who prefer to visit the markets at a leisurely pace can choose a weekday afternoon, when the village is open in the afternoon and evening. In some editions, the ice rink remains open even after the Epiphany.
Access to the village, the markets, and all entertainment shows is free. The Ferris wheel, ice rink, carousel, and Santa Claus Experience require a small fee. This choice makes the event accessible even to those who simply want to stroll among the lights without spending anything.
For the third time, the Vulcano Buono in Nola lit up its Christmas village, open daily from November 15, 2025, to January 6, 2026, with free entry. The setup occupied more than 3,000 square meters between the Arena Spettacoli and the galleries, with the Christmas Gallery dedicated to artisan markets, a fifteen-meter tree, and the reindeer sleigh.
The ice skating rink, surrounded by illuminated rides, remained in operation even after Epiphany, until February 15, 2026. Nearby, the Ferris wheel and the carousel completed the paid offerings, while street performances and free entertainment took place in Piazza Capri.
From December 15 to 28, 2025, on the first floor (Positano entrance), the Santa Claus Experience — The Secret Toy Factory was set up: workshops with elves, an area for writing letters, and interactive games. Tickets were available on-site or via the Go2 platform.
From November 15, 2025, to January 6, 2026, daily. The ice rink continued operations until February 15, 2026.
