About Chili Pepper Festival

In Torre Santa Susanna, in the heart of the Brindisi province, the Chili Pepper Festival transforms the town's streets every summer into a journey of intense flavors and fiery evenings. Featuring live music, food stalls where chili is the absolute star, a market showcasing the most curious varieties, and the unmissable chili-eating contest: two days of taste, Salento tradition, and fun with free admission, organized by the Chili Pepper Festival Association with the patronage of the Municipality and the Province.

The spiciest festival in Salento

Every summer, between the end of July and the beginning of August, Torre Santa Susanna becomes the capital of spice. The Chili Pepper Festival brings the streets of this town in the province of Brindisi, Puglia, to life with two evenings dedicated to a product that has become a local identity symbol: the 'Torrese' chili, grown in the local countryside in curious varieties such as Naso Torrese, Ceresia Torrese, and Cielo Torrese.

Flavors, market, and tastings

The heart of the event is gastronomic. Along the festival route, numerous food and wine stalls line up, incorporating chili into every recipe, from traditional Salento dishes to more original creations, all accompanied by a large beer fest area. There is also a market where visitors can purchase fresh and dried chilies, preserves, spicy sauces, and admire dozens of the most unusual varieties in the world.

Live music and entertainment

The evenings flow to the rhythm of live music, with concerts, dance performances, and street artists entertaining the public until late at night. Over the years, the festival has hosted folk orchestras, dance schools, and prominent names from the Salento music scene, confirming itself as an event that perfectly blends taste and entertainment.

The chili-eating contest

The most anticipated attraction is the spectacular chili-eating contest, a challenge at the limit of endurance where competitors vie for the title in front of an amused and incredulous crowd. A fun, lighthearted moment that has become the festival's trademark.

A growing tradition

Founded in 2012, the Chili Pepper Festival has grown year after year to become one of the most iconic summer events in the region, organized by the Chili Pepper Festival Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Torre Santa Susanna and the Province of Brindisi. Admission is free, in a popular festive atmosphere that attracts visitors from all over Salento and Puglia.

Chili Pepper Festival — edition 2026

The Chili Pepper Festival returns to Torre Santa Susanna for the 2026 edition, scheduled for July 31 on Via per San Pancrazio Salentino. Confirmed is the concert by Antonio CastrignanĂ², one of the most authoritative interpreters of Salento folk music, who brings his 2026 tour with the 'AC & Taranta Sounds' project to the stage. Alongside the music, the usual route of food stalls, the chili market, and the eating contest return.

2026 Edition

The 2026 edition of the Chili Pepper Festival in Torre Santa Susanna opens on July 31 on Via per San Pancrazio Salentino.
