A festival dedicated to the little ones

The Children's Theatre Festival is the summer highlight that the Municipality of Fossacesia, in the province of Chieti, dedicates to children and families. Included in the rich Bellestate programme, the festival brings live theatre to the squares and the seafront of this Abruzzese town, turning summer evenings into moments of growth, social connection, and fun for the youngest audiences.

Fairy tales and characters under the stars

The programme alternates between classic fairy tales retold with a light touch and characters dear to children's imaginations. Over the years, the stage has hosted titles such as Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Stories in the Closet, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan, alongside shows inspired by the most beloved cartoon characters. Every evening is an invitation to sit outdoors, with the Adriatic Sea as a backdrop, and let yourself be guided by laughter, music, and magic.

The festival venues

The heart of the performances is Piazza Fantini, in the centre of Fossacesia, complemented by the Seafront of Fossacesia Marina. The festival intertwines with other locations highlighted by Bellestate, from the Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere to the Parco dei Priori and the new Teatro degli Ulivi, in a project of widespread performance that embraces the entire municipal territory.

Artistic direction

The artistic direction of the children's shows is entrusted to local companies, including the Guardiani dell'Oca, an Abruzzese theatre group specialising in children's theatre and storytelling. The free, open-air format makes the festival accessible to everyone and transforms it into one of the most anticipated events for families holidaying on the Trabocchi Coast.

A summer of culture in Fossacesia

The Children's Theatre Festival is just one of the many facets of Bellestate, the programme through which the Municipality of Fossacesia accompanies residents and tourists from June to October with over sixty events including music, theatre, art, traditions, and gastronomy. It is an opportunity to discover Fossacesia, a village overlooking the sea in Abruzzo, combining a beach holiday with the pleasure of live culture.
