The Black Rooster preview at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence
The Chianti Classico Collection is the flagship event of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico: the official preview that gathers Black Rooster wineries at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence every February to present their new vintages. It is the most important showcase for the denomination, a moment when producers, national and international press, sommeliers, and enthusiasts come together to discover how the territory expressed itself in the latest harvest.
The heart of the event is the grand tasting area: dozens of stands set up in the industrial spaces of the Leopolda, where each winery offers its wines for tasting. You can explore everything from the standard Chianti Classico to the Riserva, up to the pinnacle of the quality pyramid represented by the Gran Selezione, the category that highlights the geographical mentions and individual vineyards of the region. In recent years, the DOP Chianti Classico extra virgin olive oil has also been added, completing the story of a territory that thrives on both wine and oil.
The Collection is structured over two days with different audiences: the first day is exclusively dedicated to industry professionals and the press (buyers, restaurateurs, wine shop owners, journalists), while the second opens its doors to the general public of enthusiasts and enotourists, who can taste the labels and engage directly with the producers. The experience is rounded off by guided wine tours, in-depth seminars, and official Black Rooster merchandise.
Chianti Classico is the historic hilly area located between the provinces of Florence and Siena, in the heart of Tuscany, first delimited by a Grand Ducal decree in 1716. Its symbol, the Black Rooster, is now one of the most recognized wine denominations in the world. Choosing Florence and the Stazione Leopolda as the stage for the preview means bringing the identity of a region that has shaped the history of Italian wine to the regional capital, offering visitors a complete journey through vintages, sub-zones, and production styles.
The 2026 edition recorded a historic record of 223 participating wineries, with 680 labels available for tasting: 190 Riserva, 185 Gran Selezione, and 32 references of DOP Chianti Classico extra virgin olive oil. The chosen theme was «Wine is Culture», dedicated to the history of the denomination (delimited as early as 1716) and the structural relationship between wine and territory. The event took place at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence.
