About Château Livres

Château Livres is the book festival that enlivens Issogne Castle every summer, one of the most famous manors in Valle d'Aosta. For a weekend, the Salone del Melograno and the churchyard in the main village square are transformed into a literary lounge: authors presenting their works, multi-voice conferences on current and cultural topics, musical interludes, and a market for used and antique books. An intimate and refined event, capable of enhancing the stories and the territory of the lower valley.

A literary festival in the heart of a castle

In Issogne, a small municipality in the lower Valle d'Aosta overlooking the Dora Baltea river, the famous 15th-century castle provides the backdrop for Château Livres, the book festival that annually draws readers, writers, and the curious within the manor's walls and into the village's main square. Born to promote knowledge of the lower Valle d'Aosta region through literature, the event has successfully extended beyond regional borders thanks to the appreciation of both the public and critics.

Between meetings, conferences, and music

The program unfolds between the Salone del Melograno, located within the castle complex, and the churchyard in the main square. Various authors are invited to present their works and engage in dialogue with readers, while thematic conferences offer an opportunity to reflect together on current affairs, history, and culture. The days are punctuated by musical interludes, weaving words and notes together in a collected and convivial atmosphere.

The book market

Among the most beloved events is the market for used and antique books, set up on Saturdays and Sundays: stalls with rare volumes, vintage editions, and bargains for enthusiasts, who can browse and purchase while strolling through the village.

A cultural excellence of Valle d'Aosta

Organized by the Municipal Library of Issogne along with the Associazione Luci di Ivrea and Edizioni Pedrini of Pont-Saint-Martin, Château Livres has become one of the reference cultural events of the Valle d'Aosta summer, successfully combining the magic of a historic location with the pleasure of reading and meeting.

Château Livres — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Château Livres returns to Issogne Castle from June 23 to 25. Three days dedicated to books, featuring author presentations, thematic conferences, musical interludes, and the usual market for used and antique books on Saturday and Sunday in the village square.

From June 23 to 25, 2026, Issogne Castle will host a new edition of Château Livres. The formula that has led to the festival's success is confirmed: book presentations with authors, conferences on current affairs and culture, and musical moments in the Salone del Melograno and on the church square. The market for used and antique books also returns on the weekend, offering an opportunity to discover rare editions and vintage volumes.
