The festival of the lateral mountain

inBOSCati! is a cultural festival held in Pian Coumarial, above Fontainemore, in the Lys Valley (Province of Aosta), at about 1,500 meters altitude. The theme is the lateral mountain: those less frequented and less publicized territories that raise questions about the future of high-altitude areas. The name plays on the ambivalence of the term "imboscarsi" (to hide in the woods) — living in the woods as a conscious choice of an alternative life, or as a risk of isolation — and on the fact that the event is held in a location called Bosc.

Ideas, books, and excursions

The program combines round tables, book presentations, meetings, workshops for children and adults, nature excursions, and music. Among the guests of previous editions are well-known voices on the topic of mountains, such as Marco Albino Ferrari, Mauro Varotto, and Andrea Membretti. The excursions in the woods and meadows are curated with local associations, and there are also workshops dedicated to traditional knowledge, such as dry stone wall art.

Sleeping in the woods

One of the most evocative features of the festival is the possibility of free tent camping on the night between the two days, in a meadow adjacent to Pian Coumarial. Places are limited to about 50 tents, with mandatory booking.

A project for the territory

inBOSCati! is promoted by L'Altramontagna and the Municipality of Fontainemore, as part of the Interreg project Fu.Turis.T. (Future, Tourism, and Territories). All activities are free, in line with the participatory and accessible spirit of the festival.
