About Feast of the Patron Saint of Montjovet

Dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary (September 8th), the Feast of the Patron Saint of Montjovet is the longest of the Aosta Valley summer: about ten days of music, flavours, and traditions. Featuring themed dinners, dances, a funfair, Belote and palet tournaments, the Alpini day, and the spectacular international chainsaw carving competition "Profumo di Cedro", the village in the lower Aosta Valley transforms into a grand community stage.

The longest patronal feast in the valley

The Feast of the Patron Saint of Montjovet, a municipality in the lower Aosta Valley in the province of Aosta, is dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, celebrated on September 8th. With about ten days of programming, it is considered the longest patronal feast of the Aosta Valley summer: an anticipated event that involves the entire community and the many visitors to the area.

Music, flavours, and traditions

The schedule alternates musical and dance evenings, themed dinners (from the "friends' dinner" to evenings featuring fish, mushrooms, paella, and boiled meat), the funfair, Belote and palet tournaments, as well as the usual self-service restaurant managed by volunteers. There is also space for traditions with the day dedicated to the Alpini (Italian Alpine troops), which includes a parade, Holy Mass, and dancing.

Profumo di Cedro, the art of the chainsaw

The true attraction of the feast is "Profumo di Cedro", the international chainsaw carving competition held in the sports area of the Berriat district. Italian and foreign sculptors compete, shaping wood into works of art through speed carving and official competition, with a Sunday award ceremony. The event is organized by Polisportiva Montjovet ASD with the support of the Municipality and the Aosta Valley Region.
