About Chaberton Vertical Visions

Chaberton Vertical Visions, the first adventure film festival in the Piedmontese Cottian Alps, debuts in Sansicario Alto, a village in the municipality of Cesana Torinese, near Turin. Two evenings at the Cinema SanSipario are dedicated to the big screen of mountaineering and exploration: documentaries, short films, and features showcasing vertical feats, expeditions, and challenges against the limits of nature. Free admission with voluntary donations, set in an intimate atmosphere amidst the snows of the upper Susa Valley.

A new adventure film festival in the Cottian Alps

In the winter of 2026, Sansicario Alto, a picturesque mountain village in the municipality of Cesana Torinese in the province of Turin, Piedmont, hosts the first edition of Chaberton Vertical Visions, a festival entirely dedicated to adventure, mountaineering, and exploration cinema. The initiative stems from the collaboration of three entities linked to the mountain world: the NonSoloNeve association, the outdoor shop Couloir, and the freeride collective Chaberton Vertical Vision, which brings a contemporary perspective on high-altitude adventure to the project.

Two evenings on the big screen

The festival is divided into two evening sessions hosted at the Cinema SanSipario in Sansicario Alto, a 199-seat venue located inside the C13 residential complex. Each evening offers two screenings, at 6:30 PM and 9:00 PM, taking the audience on a journey through vertical feats, expeditions to remote places, and stories that push beyond the boundaries of the known.

The program of the first edition

  • February 21, 2026 – Opening night featuring K2 Chasing Shadow, dedicated to Benjamin Védrines' record on the eight-thousander, and the short film Gabon Uncharted, a kayaking expedition in the rainforest. Guest of the evening: director David Arnaud.
  • March 7, 2026 – Women's night featuring Didi, on the theme of empowerment through exploration, and Wild Waters, an award-winning film starring kayaker Nouria Newman.

An event for mountain enthusiasts

More than just a film festival, Chaberton Vertical Visions aims to be a meeting point for those who experience the mountains as a terrain of adventure and freedom. Admission is free with voluntary donations, in keeping with the community spirit of the three organizers. Images of rock faces, glaciers, rushing rivers, and remote forests dialogue with the real landscape of the upper Susa Valley, amidst the slopes and panoramas of the Cottian Alps.

Sansicario Alto and the tradition of Piedmontese mountains

A well-known ski resort in the western Alps, Sansicario is part of the Via Lattea ski area and the municipality of Cesana Torinese. Hosting an adventure film festival in this context reinforces the area's vocation, where sport, nature, and mountain culture have always been intertwined. For visitors, the festival is also an opportunity to discover the winter season in one of Piedmont's most beloved destinations.
