Certaldo's major summer festival featuring street food, craft beer, and free concerts
Every June, the village of Certaldo, nestled in the heart of the Valdelsa in the province of Florence, transforms into a grand open-air stage. Certaldo in Fermento has become one of the most anticipated events of the Tuscan summer: a popular festival that blends local gastronomic tradition, a passion for craft beer, and a live music lineup capable of attracting thousands of people of all ages.
The formula is that of a successful village fair, but with professional organization: street food curated by local associations and businesses, rivers of craft beer, artisan and creative markets, and a packed schedule of concerts, always free of charge. The event is a collaboration between Confesercenti Firenze and the Irish Pub Mac Cool, with the support of the Centro Commerciale Naturale Con Certaldo and the patronage of the Municipality of Certaldo.
The heart of the event is the outdoor area of the new Fiammetta municipal pool, where a monumental stage equipped with state-of-the-art audio and lighting technology is set up. Here, ten nights of pure entertainment unfold, featuring tribute bands, rock acts, and prominent national and international guests.
The festival isn't limited to concerts: along Via Due Giugno in the town center, artisan and creative markets come to life, alongside vintage car and motorcycle rallies and displays by local producers showcasing wine, olive oil, and Valdelsa culinary specialties. For the little ones, Piazza Boccaccio hosts Il Paese dei Balocchi, a space entirely dedicated to children with inflatables, attractions, and games.
Certaldo is no ordinary village: as the birthplace of Giovanni Boccaccio, with its stunning medieval red-brick historic center, it is one of the most fascinating destinations in Tuscany. Certaldo in Fermento brings life and music to the lower part of the town, complementing the tourist offerings of a region already rich in history and flavor. An evening at the festival can easily be combined with a walk through the upper village, reachable via the historic funicular.
The event has grown with each edition, establishing itself as one of the most popular free summer festivals in the province of Florence and all of Tuscany, successfully combining fun, taste, and social connection in an authentic and welcoming atmosphere.
The 2026 edition, the seventh, confirms the winning formula of ten nights of free live entertainment spread over two long weekends. The Piscina Fiammetta area hosts street food and craft beer, while Via Due Giugno features the artisan market and, on Wednesday, the vintage car and motorcycle rally with local wine and olive oil producers. In Piazza Boccaccio, Il Paese dei Balocchi returns for children.
The evenings take place on the monumental stage in the Piscina Fiammetta area, equipped with state-of-the-art audio and lighting technology. Street food and craft beer stands open every evening from 6:00 PM. The full program for the ten nights is announced on the official Facebook page of the event.
Two long weekends in June, generally from Wednesday to Sunday, with events extending into early July.
