The sweetest celebration of the Vesuvius autumn, blending honey, Franciscan tradition, and live entertainment

The Cercola Honey Festival is a must-attend autumn event in the Vesuvius area, located in the heart of the Metropolitan City of Naples, in Campania. Every October, the Municipality of Cercola comes alive around Piazzale Filangieri, in the Carafa district, where the scent of honey blends with local delicacies and the sounds of evening music in the square. The event was founded in 1991 by Friar Luigi Monaco and the Franciscan Fraternity of the Immaculate Conception Parish, which still manages its organization today.
At the heart of the festival is honey, celebrated as a symbol of hard work and sweetness. The stalls offer various honey varieties alongside pastries, hive products, and traditional Campanian gastronomic specialties. It is a wonderful opportunity to discover the authentic flavors of the region and support the charitable works promoted by the Franciscan community through your tastings.
Beyond the food, the festival offers a rich program of live performances: dance evenings featuring local dance schools, concerts by regional artists, cabaret moments with Neapolitan comedians, and family entertainment. The event also includes a raffle, singing performances, and games that fill the square until late. Each edition revolves around a theme that recalls the values of fraternity, beauty, and hope dear to Franciscan spirituality.
Sunday is traditionally dedicated to families: in the morning, the children's village offers creative workshops and sports activities, while the evening sees the square fill up with music and dance once again. It is this blend of popular celebration, gastronomy, and spiritual dimension that makes the Honey Festival such a cherished event for the Cercola community.
Located near the Vesuvius area, the gateway to the Vesuvius National Park, Cercola offers visitors the chance to combine the festival with a stroll through the landscapes and flavors of the territory. For over thirty years, the Honey Festival has served as a meeting point that celebrates the tradition, solidarity, and identity of this corner of Campania.
The Cercola Honey Festival is also anticipated for autumn 2026. Confirming the long tradition of the event, the gathering is expected to take place in October at Piazzale Filangieri, featuring the honey and local product stalls, live shows, and the children's village that characterize every edition. Precise dates and the detailed program have not yet been released: updates will be communicated by the Franciscan Fraternity of the Immaculate Conception Parish on the official event channels.
Cercola is located a few kilometers east of Naples. By car, it can be reached via the Naples Ring Road (Tangenziale) and the SS268 del Vesuvio. By train, the Circumvesuviana station (Naples-Sarno / Naples-Poggiomarino line) provides convenient access to the town center.
Admission to the festival is free. Stalls generally open in the evening, from around 7:00 PM, with performances continuing late into the night.
