Cecina Seaside Carnival

A carnival with the scent of the sea

The Cecina Seaside Carnival is the "seaside" version of the local carnival: it leaves the historic center and heads to the coast, transforming the Terrazza dei Tirreni in Marina di Cecina into a vast pedestrian space dedicated to imagination. Confetti, streamers, and masks mingle with the salty air and the winter light of the coastline, in an afternoon of festivities that attracts families and curious visitors from all over the province of Livorno.

Promoted by the Municipality of Cecina in close collaboration with the Targa Cecina association and CCN Cecina Centro, the event was born with a specific goal: to de-seasonalize the tourist offer of Marina di Cecina and bring life to the waterfront even in the heart of winter, when the Tuscan coast reveals its most tranquil side.

A celebration designed for children

The program focuses entirely on active participation and entertainment for the little ones. The activities alternating on the terrace include:

• Street performers with roving acts that enchant both adults and children;
• the pentolaccia, the most anticipated moment for the little ones, with sweets and surprises to be won;
• face painting stations to transform into one's favorite heroes;
• games and entertainment activities curated down to the smallest detail.

Setting the pace for the afternoon is the music of Radio Stop, which provides the festive soundtrack with a cheerful and engaging background.

Sea, pine forest, and carnival tradition

The Cecina Seaside Carnival is part of a carnival tradition that in Cecina also thrives with allegorical float parades in the town center. On the coast, however, the celebration takes on a more intimate and familiar character: the day invites you to combine the fun with a walk in the charming pine forest of Marina di Cecina or a lunch in the restaurants overlooking the sea, before the afternoon explodes with confetti.

For Cecina, a city on the Etruscan Coast in the province of Livorno and in Tuscany, it is a way to showcase its coastline even outside the summer season, promoting Marina di Cecina as a destination for trips and weekends for all ages.
