The festival bringing cherry trees back to the heart of Comiziano, blending flavors, music, and rural tradition
The "Ce verimm sotto 'o per e Ciras" Cherry Festival was established in 2026 in Comiziano, a small town in the province of Naples, located in the heart of the Nolano area in Campania. Promoted by the local festival committee together with the Santorelli family, the event animated the town square for three days, attracting crowds of residents and visitors from neighboring towns from the very first hours.
The title in Neapolitan dialect, "Ce verimm sotto 'o per e Ciras," translates to "we'll see each other under the cherry tree": it is a phrase that evokes moments of shared harvesting in the fields, when village life revolved around the orchards. It is therefore not just a gastronomic festival, but a tribute to the local rural memory and a way of being together that the event aims to bring back to life.
The absolute star is the cherry, featured in the food stalls in "every possible way." Among the specialties offered, the fusilli with cherries and the sweet and sour pork ribs with cherries stood out, accompanied by Prosecco Cherry and a selection of typical desserts, graffe, and granitas. A culinary journey designed to combine the tradition of Campanian cuisine with the festival's iconic ingredient.
Alongside the dining, the festival featured craft markets, scenic displays with traditional wooden crates and baskets for harvesting cherries, and, as the symbolic heart of the square, an illuminated cherry tree around which moments of meeting and conviviality took place. There was no shortage of live music, with the Banda di Lauro, evening shows, and workshops with inflatables and games dedicated to children.
The Comiziano area was historically known for its vast cherry orchards; over the course of a century, production had gradually shifted toward hazelnuts. The festival was born with the specific intent of marking a return to local agricultural origins: the Santorelli family has planned new plantings, and the organizers aim to make the event a fixed annual tradition linked to the rebirth of cherry cultivation.
Nestled between Nola and the towns of the Campanian plain, Comiziano offers visitors the chance to discover an authentic corner of the province of Naples, far from the major tourist circuits. The festival is an excellent gateway to experience the hospitality, flavors, and popular traditions of this part of Campania.
The first edition animated the square of Comiziano for three days, with a large turnout. The program alternated between the inauguration, cherry-based food stalls, workshops for children, and evening shows, in a festive atmosphere that attracted visitors from neighboring towns as well.
Sunday, May 31 — Inauguration at 6:30 PM with the ribbon-cutting; food stalls open from 7:00 PM.
Monday, June 1 — Food stalls reopen from 7:00 PM.
Tuesday, June 2 — From 10:00 AM, workshops for children with inflatables and games; at 1:00 PM, themed lunch accompanied by the Banda di Lauro; from 6:30 PM, opening of the food stalls and, from 7:00 PM, musical show with Tecla.
Comiziano is located in the Nolano area, in the province of Naples. By car, it can be reached via the A16 Naples-Canosa motorway (Nola exit) or the A30; the town center and the festival square are well signposted. The nearest train station is Nola, also served by the Circumvesuviana line.
Admission to the festival area is free; specialties can be purchased at the food stalls. A parking area is available nearby.
