The urban art festival bringing color to Cesa, in the province of Caserta
The CE.S.A. Cesa Street Art Festival is the event that has brought street art to the streets of Cesa, one of the smallest and most densely populated municipalities in the province of Caserta, in Campania. Born from the desire to regenerate urban spaces through public art, the festival transforms anonymous walls, parking lots, and courtyards into large murals, inviting artists from all over Italy to paint live in front of the town's residents.
The first edition, promoted by the Passione d'Arte Cultural Association together with Pink Elephants ETS, took place in the autumn of 2024 and was dedicated to Asprinio wine, a symbol of the local agricultural tradition. Ten muralists, selected through a public call, created as many works while working from dawn to dusk, while the town hosted workshops, street performer shows, musical performances, and exhibitions set up in the evocative caves of the historic center.
Building on the success of the first experience, the festival returned for its second edition from April 21 to 26, 2026, moving to the Parco della Legalità in Cesa. The chosen theme, "The Gentle Revolution", envisions art as a tool for social and civil transformation: eight muralists, selected via a national call that attracted applications from cities such as Trieste, Bologna, and Rome, dedicated their works to figures symbolizing commitment and collective memory, including journalist Giancarlo Siani, mayor Angelo Vassallo, police escort officer Emanuela Loi, and local winemakers. The artistic direction is entrusted to Davide Montuori.
The CE.S.A. Cesa Street Art Festival is designed as a participatory and multidisciplinary event that complements the creation of the artworks with a rich collateral program:
Hosting a widespread urban art festival represents a project of identity, participation, and cultural rebirth for the Municipality of Cesa. The works remain permanently on the town's walls, creating an open-air street art trail that enriches the artistic heritage of the Agro Aversano and offers residents and visitors a new reason to discover this corner of Campania.
From April 21 to 26, 2026, the Parco della Legalità in Cesa was transformed into an open-air creative laboratory for the second edition of the festival, promoted by the Passione d'Arte Cultural Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Cesa and the artistic direction of Davide Montuori. The theme, "The Gentle Revolution", guided the creation of large murals dedicated to figures who left a positive mark, from journalist Giancarlo Siani to mayor Angelo Vassallo, and local winemakers.
The second edition saw eight muralists at work, selected through a national call that gathered applications from all over Italy, from Trieste to Bologna and Rome. The artists created their works live inside the Parco della Legalità on the theme "The Gentle Revolution", dedicating the murals to figures symbolizing civil commitment and collective memory.
Alongside the creation of the works, the program offered:
