The patronal celebrations in honor of Saint John the Baptist in the village of Chivasso
In late June, the small village of Castelrosso, part of the Municipality of Chivasso in the Metropolitan City of Turin (Piedmont), comes alive for its Patronal Feast in honor of Saint John the Baptist. It is one of the most cherished events in the local calendar: for four days, the community gathers to celebrate its traditions, blending popular faith, gastronomy, and entertainment for all ages.
The event is organized by Pro Castelrosso, the association that has kept the festival alive for years with the patronage of the Municipality of Chivasso. The program alternates between religious moments dedicated to the patron saint—the Holy Mass and the traditional procession through the village streets—and secular evenings featuring ballroom orchestras, live bands, and entertainment. The festival is also a chance to reconnect: families, young people, and residents from neighboring villages meet under the pavilion.
The beating heart of the festivities is the covered dining pavilion, which opens every evening, ensuring the festival continues regardless of the weather. The menu features traditional Piedmontese dishes and the most popular local specialties: agnolotti, ribs and grilled meats, French fries, appetizers, and desserts, accompanied by the classic costinata (rib feast) and themed evenings with beer and street food. There is also a funfair, set up for the duration of the festival and an unmissable attraction for children.
The festival takes place in the village of Castelrosso, just a few kilometers from the center of Chivasso, along the Po plain northeast of Turin. The 2026 edition is scheduled from Thursday, June 25th to Sunday, June 28th. It is a perfect opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Chivasso area and the warm hospitality of its people.
