21.0975 km FIDAL-certified course through the Royal Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, a UNESCO World Heritage site
The Caserta International Half Marathon "Reggia-Reggia" is one of the most fascinating running events in Campania. Every year in November, the capital of the Terra di Lavoro region welcomes hundreds of runners for a 21.0975 km road race, the official half-marathon distance, measured and approved by FIDAL. The charm of the event lies entirely in its setting: the Royal Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta, designed by Luigi Vanvitelli and inspired by the great gardens of European royal residences, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The race kicks off from Corso Trieste in the center of Caserta and follows a loop that crosses the urban fabric before entering the Royal Park, amidst fountains, waterfalls, monumental avenues, and scenic vistas. It is from this double embrace with the Vanvitellian palace that the name "Reggia-Reggia" (Palace-to-Palace) originates: you start from the city of the Royal Palace and run inside its park. A predominantly flat and fast track, suitable for both competitive athletes chasing personal bests and amateur runners.
Born in 2014 from the vision of a group of enthusiasts gathered in the ASD Reggia Running association, the "Reggia-Reggia" has grown with every edition to become a permanent fixture on the national FIDAL calendar, attracting sports clubs and athletes from all over Italy and abroad. The organizers' stated goal is to showcase the Caserta area and its monumental beauty, using sport as a window to a unique heritage.
The race is deeply rooted in the city's identity. Caserta, in the province of the same name, owes its international fame precisely to the Royal Palace commissioned by Charles of Bourbon, one of the largest royal palaces in the world. Running the "Reggia-Reggia" means experiencing this setting as a protagonist, breathing in the sport, history, and landscape of inland Campania, far from the coast and the most beaten tourist paths.
The event provides participants with well-organized services: a marathon village for bib and race pack collection, technical and medical assistance along the route, pacemaker service, chip timing, insurance coverage, and a finisher medal for those who cross the finish line. An event designed to be both a competitive race and a celebration of sport open to everyone.
The 2026 edition of the Caserta International Half Marathon "Reggia-Reggia" is scheduled for Sunday, November 22, 2026, with a start time of 8:30 AM from Corso Trieste. The route, approved and certified by FIDAL for a distance of 21.0975 km, winds between the city center and the monumental Royal Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta.
The event effectively picks up from the 2025 appointment, which was postponed due to the regional elections, and brings major road running back to Caserta in one of the most famous UNESCO settings in Campania.
The detailed schedule and any calendar of side events will be published by the organization on the official website in the weeks leading up to the event.
By train: The Caserta station is just a few minutes' walk from Corso Trieste and the Royal Palace, with frequent connections from Naples and Rome.
