The Capri Leone Carnival

The Caprileonese Carnival is one of the most cherished winter events in Capri Leone, a town on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina overlooking the Nebrodi Mountains in Sicily. For a few days, the town fills with masks, confetti, and music, with a program designed to engage children, teenagers, and adults in a festive atmosphere shared by the entire community.

Floats and Costumed Groups

The heart of the event lies in the parades of allegorical floats crafted from papier-mâché by local artisans: true works of imagination and creativity that travel through the town streets accompanied by costumed groups. The Capri Leone floats often participate in parades in nearby towns, such as Capo d'Orlando, reflecting a carnival tradition deeply rooted throughout the Nebrodi district.

A Carnival for Families

Plenty of space is reserved for the little ones with the Children's Carnival, animated in recent years by Marameo Animazione with games, dancing, face painting, and shows. There is no shortage of dance evenings with DJs and special guests, turning the municipal gym into a dance floor for all ages.

The Roccalandia Association

The event is organized by the Roccalandia association in partnership with the Municipality of Capri Leone. The association's volunteers build the floats and coordinate the various days of the festival, carrying it forward with passion and dedication to keep one of the town's most beloved traditions alive.

An Experience in the Nebrodi

Among the festivals and celebrations in Sicily, the Caprileonese Carnival represents an important moment of social gathering for the Nebrodi territory.
