The roar of engines from a bygone era in the medieval village of the upper Caserta region

The Capriati a Volturno Vintage Car and Motorcycle Rally has become a staple of the late summer calendar in the upper Caserta area. Carefully organized by the Pro Loco Capriatese, led by Professor Adele Amato, the rally attracts collectors, enthusiasts, and curious onlookers every year to admire vehicles and motorcycles that have shaped the history of Italian mechanics. With cars polished to a shine, vintage motorcycles with their charm intact, and the characteristic roar of engines from the past, the small municipality of Capriati a Volturno in the province of Caserta is transformed for a day into an open-air museum.
The meeting point is the central Piazza Roma, where participants register in the morning and enjoy breakfast provided by the organizers. From there, the rally is more than just a static display: cars and motorcycles parade along the scenic roads of the Volturno Valley, passing through neighboring villages like Ailano and the countryside of Pratella. A guided tour of the medieval village of Capriati adds a cultural touch to the day, showing participants the alleys, hidden corners, and ancient stonework of a town that preserves a often overlooked historical heritage.
The rally is, above all, a moment of togetherness. From the welcoming brass band in the squares of the towns visited to the awards given to the oldest vehicles, the drivers who traveled the furthest, and the youngest and oldest participants, to the convivial lunch that concludes the morning: every detail reflects the spirit of inland Campania, defined by hospitality, passion, and a deep bond with the territory. It is no coincidence that the initiative actively involves the communities of neighboring towns, turning an automotive passion into a true village festival.
Between engines of yesteryear, local history, and human warmth, the Vintage Car and Motorcycle Rally confirms Capriati a Volturno as a small capital of historic motoring in the Campanian hinterland.
The 2026 edition of the Capriati a Volturno Vintage Car and Motorcycle Rally is expected, as per tradition, in the month of September. As of today, the Pro Loco Capriatese has not yet released the official program or the exact date. Based on previous years, the day usually includes a morning gathering in Piazza Roma with registration and breakfast, a guided tour of the medieval village, a parade of historic vehicles along the Volturno Valley towards neighboring towns, and a final convivial lunch. To confirm the date, times, and registration procedures, please contact the organizers directly.
Capriati a Volturno is located in the upper Caserta region, on the border with Molise. By car, it can be reached from the Caianello exit on the A1 motorway, continuing along the Volturno Valley. The reference railway station is Vairano-Caianello, on the Rome-Naples line via Cassino.
Public access to the exhibition is free. Vehicle registration and the optional convivial lunch require a fee; booking in advance by contacting the Pro Loco Capriatese is recommended.
