The wine-tourism cycling tour through the Collio vineyards, starting from Capriva del Friuli
Among the most evocative initiatives of the Cantine Aperte weekend in Friuli Venezia Giulia is Cantine Aperte Bike, the wine-tourism cycling tour that starts from Capriva del Friuli, in the heart of the Collio Goriziano. It's a slow and sustainable way to discover one of Italy's most renowned wine-growing areas, where hills embroidered with vines meet woods and small valleys.
The itinerary, designed to be accessible to everyone, winds through the Collio vineyards, passing through the Conca del Preval — a wetland of great natural interest — and the Plessiva Park, a green lung near Cormons. Along the way, you'll find participating wineries where you can stop to taste the white wines that have made the region famous: Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, Pinot Bianco, Sauvignon.
The cycling tour is organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia, the same organization that promotes the national Cantine Aperte event, held on the last weekend of May. It's an opportunity to experience the Collio not just with a glass in hand, but also with the gentle effort of cycling, rediscovering the connection between wine and the landscape that produces it. Capriva del Friuli, with its historic estates and the renowned Castello di Spessa, is the ideal starting point for this journey of taste and nature.
For 2026, the 9th edition of Cantine Aperte Bike is part of the Cantine Aperte FVG weekend (Saturday, May 30, and Sunday, May 31), the 33rd regional edition involving over 80 wineries. The wine-tourism cycling tour starts on Sunday, May 31, at 10:00 AM from Capriva del Friuli.
The route crosses the Collio vineyards, the Conca del Preval, and the Plessiva Park, with stops at participating wineries to taste the region's great white wines. The event is organized by the Movimento Turismo del Vino Friuli Venezia Giulia.
