The Valsugana choral review in Borgo Valsugana
Canta Valsugana is the annual choral review that gathers the valley's leading vocal groups in Borgo Valsugana for an evening entirely dedicated to folk music. The event takes place at the town's Sports Hall, offering the audience a journey through the Trentino alpine tradition, featuring mountain songs, Great War ballads, folk melodies, and choral arrangements that define the identity of this region.
The review gives voice to the choral groups that enrich the musical life of Valsugana throughout the year. The stage hosts both long-standing ensembles and younger groups, each with its own style and repertoire, in a dialogue that celebrates the heritage of Trentino choral singing. Participating groups include:
Canta Valsugana is a highlight of the Festival of Culture and Emotions, a month-long event held between May and June in Borgo Valsugana, featuring author talks, film screenings, concerts, shows, and workshops for families. In this context, the choral evening serves as a moment for the community to reconnect with its musical roots in a convivial and popular setting.
The event is promoted by the Pro Loco Borgo Valsugana in collaboration with the Coro Sant'Osvaldo and is supported by the local cultural network. Borgo Valsugana, located in the province of Trento in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, is the main hub of the eastern Valsugana: a village crossed by the Brenta River, rich in history and surrounded by the Lagorai mountains, which provide a natural backdrop for an evening where singing becomes an expression of belonging and collective memory.
Attending Canta Valsugana is an authentic experience of Trentino's choral culture: an emotional performance, suitable for all ages, that allows you to discover the richness of alpine folk singing and the dedication of the associations that preserve it. The event is designed to welcome both the local community and visitors passing through the valley.
