Art, music, and nature in the Pineta delle Madonie, Petralia Sottana
The Camp Art Festival is a self-managed, independent event that transforms the Municipal Pine Forest of Petralia Sottana, in the heart of the Madonie Park, into a free space where art, music, and nature converge every summer. Built with passion by those who experience it, the festival offers three days of total immersion in concerts, installations, and shared creativity, in a place where the breath of the trees accompanies every gesture, sound, and encounter.
The idea for CampArt was born in 2009 in the heart of Bologna, within the halls of the historic Academy of Fine Arts: it was not just an art project, but a collective challenge. Since then, the festival has grown as a shared dream and collective ritual, eventually reaching the peaks of the Madonie and the magnificent pine forest of Petralia Sottana, an enchanted, undeveloped place where the dialogue with the environment becomes part of the experience itself.
The Camp Art Festival program combines various artistic spirits:
The event takes place in the Municipality of Petralia Sottana, in the province of Palermo, a stone village nestled among the Madonie mountains and listed among the most evocative places in inland Sicily. The choice of the Municipal Pine Forest as a setting reinforces the festival's vocation: to create a symbiosis with nature and propose a different, sustainable model of an event that is deeply connected to the territory.
The Camp Art Festival asserts its self-managed and independent nature: no big sponsors or spectacular stages, but a space built from the ground up, where the public is invited to participate rather than just watch. This is the hallmark that, edition after edition, makes it a reference point for those seeking emerging art, music, and nature in the Madonie.
The Camp Art Festival 2026 will be held from July 31 to August 2 in the Municipal Pine Forest of Petralia Sottana, in the Madonie. Three days of art, music, and nature are confirmed, with artistic impromptu sessions, installations, workshops, and evenings of live concerts and DJ sets. At the moment, the detailed program and line-up have not yet been made public: information on artists, times, and tickets will be communicated by the organizers on official channels in the weeks leading up to the event.
Petralia Sottana can be reached by car from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway, taking the Tre Monzelli or Irosa exit and continuing along the internal roads of the Madonie. The reference railway station is Castellana-Pollina-San Mauro, which is far from the village, so a car remains the most convenient means of transport. The nearest airports are Palermo (Falcone-Borsellino) and Catania (Fontanarossa).
The main activities are held in the Municipal Pine Forest of Petralia Sottana; some initiatives may also involve the historic center and Piazza Umberto I.
In recent editions, the festival has offered a daily ticket and a full pass for multiple days with the option to camp. It is recommended to check updated prices and methods on the festival's official channels.
As this is an event immersed in nature, comfortable clothing, suitable shoes, and camping equipment are recommended for those choosing to stay overnight in the pine forest.
