The food and wine walking tour between Castelletto sopra Ticino and Borgo Ticino
Camminar Mangiando is one of the most beloved spring events in Castelletto sopra Ticino, a town in the Province of Novara overlooking the Ticino River in the heart of Upper Piedmont. The concept is as simple as it is irresistible: combine an outdoor walk with a series of gastronomic stops to discover the territory while eating and drinking along the way. Launched in 2022, the event has grown year after year, now including the nearby town of Borgo Ticino with a route that connects the two Novara municipalities.
The trail stretches for about 10-12 kilometers through the most beautiful streets of the two towns, along paths and scenic views of the Ticino River. Groups do not start all at once: participants register for a specific time slot and depart in staggered groups, accompanied by a guide, ensuring arrival at each stop without crowds and with plenty of time to relax. It is a formula designed for families, groups of friends, and walkers of all levels, as the pace is that of a gentle stroll rather than a race.
The true heart of Camminar Mangiando lies in its delicious stops—usually seven—distributed along the route. It begins with breakfast and continues from one tasting to the next, discovering traditional dishes from the Novara area and Upper Piedmont:
Each stop is managed by the Pro Loco and local associations, providing kitchens, venues, and warm hospitality.
Camminar Mangiando is organized by the Pro Loco of Castelletto sopra Ticino in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Borgo Ticino and local associations. More than just a festival, it is a community celebration that highlights the identity of the Novara region, its typical products, and the beauty of the river landscape of the Ticino Park and Lake Maggiore. An original and convivial way to spend a spring Sunday dedicated to good food, company, and slow walking.
The Pro Loco of Castelletto sopra Ticino has announced the return of Camminar Mangiando in 2026, confirming the new edition of the food and wine walking tour through the town's streets in the Province of Novara.
The 2026 edition will feature the proven formula: a walk along the local streets and trails, with staggered departures accompanied by a guide and delicious stops dedicated to the typical products of Upper Piedmont.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (final date, departure times, route, and menu of the stops) will be communicated by the organizers. It will be updated here as soon as it is published on the official Pro Loco channels.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be published by the Pro Loco of Castelletto sopra Ticino on official channels in the weeks leading up to the event. The event will maintain its usual formula: mandatory registration with advance payment, staggered departures with a guide, and a series of food and wine stops along the route.
The event takes place in the spring, generally on a Sunday in May. In case of bad weather, the event is postponed to the following Sunday as indicated by the organizers.
Participation is limited, and registration is mandatory with advance payment. You can register by writing to [email protected] (bank transfer) or by paying in cash at the points indicated by the Pro Loco in Castelletto sopra Ticino and Borgo Ticino. A reduced price is available for children.
Castelletto sopra Ticino is located in the Province of Novara, near the outlet of Lake Maggiore. By car, it can be reached via the A26 motorway (Castelletto Ticino exit). The reference railway station is Castelletto Ticino on the Novara-Domodossola line.
Wear comfortable shoes and clothing suitable for walking. We recommend arriving at the meeting point at least half an hour before your chosen departure time.
