The queen of the vegetable patch in Gavirate

The Pumpkin Festival is one of the most beloved autumn events in the Varesotto area. Organized by the Pro Loco, it takes place on the lakeside of Gavirate (Province of Varese), overlooking Lake Varese, for several consecutive Sundays in October. The undisputed protagonist is the pumpkin, presented in a thousand ways through cuisine, markets, and entertainment.

Autumn flavors and traditions

The gastronomic offer revolves around traditional pumpkin-based dishes, accompanied by local products:

• Pumpkin risotto and tortelli, pumpkin gnocchi, and autumn specialties;
• Perch with fries and other dishes from Larian and Varesine cuisine;
• Market of regional products and craft stalls;
• Pumpkin launching with a slingshot, the festival's signature game;
• Shows, entertainment, and activities for children and families.

A festival for all Sundays in October

The event is repeated for several Sundays of the month, with the kitchen generally opening at noon and a different program each week, including wellness fairs, mycological exhibitions, vintage car rallies, folk shows, and outdoor activities. A way to experience autumn by the lake and rediscover the flavors and traditions of Gavirate.
