The Pumpkin Festival, known to most as Zuccagnata, is the autumn festival of the hamlet of Osmate, part of the municipality of Cadrezzate con Osmate, in the province of Varese. Organized by the Pro Loco of Osmate with the patronage of the Municipality, it is one of the most beloved autumn festivals in the area, set amidst greenery just a short walk from Lake Monate.
Two weekends of taste
The festival takes place over two weekends, with food stalls open for lunch and dinner. The star is the pumpkin, featured in numerous traditional dishes, alongside the ever-present roasted chestnuts and seasonal specialties. Good food is at the heart of the celebration, accompanied by convivial moments such as the lunch dedicated to the village elders.
Music, market, and families
Alongside the food, the Zuccagnata offers evenings with live music from local bands, a craft market, bouncy castles and games for the little ones, as well as community events like the awarding of scholarships. A program designed to engage all ages, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

The result of the hard work of Pro Loco volunteers, the Pumpkin Festival is much more than a gastronomic event: it is the time when the small village of Osmate comes together to celebrate the arrival of autumn and the fruits of the earth. With free admission, the event attracts visitors from neighboring towns and the Varese lake district, confirming itself as one of the most authentic autumn festivals in the region.
Pumpkin Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Osmate Pumpkin Festival (Zuccagnata) will take place, as is tradition, between late September and early October, spread over two weekends in the festival area. Organized by the Pro Loco of Osmate, it will offer food stalls for lunch and dinner with pumpkin-based dishes and seasonal specialties, roasted chestnuts, live music, a craft market, bouncy castles, and games for children. The exact dates will be published by the Pro Loco in the weeks preceding the event. Free admission.
