Craft beer, street food, and live music at the Villa Comunale in Battipaglia
The Cammarota Beer Festival is the major celebration that kicks off the summer season in the town of Battipaglia, in the province of Salerno, located in the heart of the Piana del Sele and the Campania region. For several consecutive nights, the Villa Comunale, situated between Via Belvedere and Via Clarizia, lights up with music and beer taps. The stalls open daily in the late afternoon, and the festivities continue until late at night, with a completely free entry policy that has made the event one of the most popular in the Salerno area.
The event is organized by the Associazione Settecentomila Metriquadri ETS, a local Battipaglia organization active year-round in community building and urban regeneration. It was founded in memory of Antonio Cammarota, a friend and founding figure of the association. Each edition is a tribute to his memory and an opportunity to keep alive the spirit of friendship and sharing that sparked the event: it is not just a beer festival, but a community project that has firmly established itself in the city's calendar.
The gastronomic heart of the event is the food area, which in the 2026 edition features fourteen outdoor stalls: an expanded offering compared to the past, designed to satisfy every palate. Among the most popular items are specialties that showcase Campanian cuisine and excellent street food:
Alongside the food, the selection of beers is the festival's true trademark: classic labels are paired with a curated choice of craft beers, designed both for those simply looking for a fresh lager to enjoy with friends and for more demanding enthusiasts curious to try different styles and productions.
No evening goes without a stage. The program alternates between tribute bands dedicated to the great names of Italian music, local live groups, DJ sets, and dance nights, ensuring there is something for every audience. The model is that of a traditional popular festival updated for modern times: visitors arrive early to dine at the stalls, stay for the concert, and linger in the park until late, enjoying beers and catching up with friends. The free entry policy does the rest, attracting visitors not only from Battipaglia but from across the Piana del Sele, from Eboli to Pontecagnano and Salerno.
The Cammarota Beer Festival is explicitly an event for all ages. A children's area is set up in the park with inflatables and traditional wooden games, allowing the little ones to have fun safely while parents enjoy the evening. Over the years, the association has also added daytime workshops for kids, with creative activities ranging from photography and drawing to storytelling and journalism.
A distinctive feature of the event is its focus on social inclusion: each edition hosts dedicated initiatives and involves local associations, turning the festival into a showcase for the city's civic energy. The park thus becomes a place for meeting and promoting the area, where merchants, artisans, and volunteers work together for a few days each year.
Because it is free, the food and drink are excellent, and it restores the most authentic dimension of an Italian summer festival to a town in the province of Salerno: a crowded square, live music, children running around, and impromptu tables set up under the park's trees. Those visiting Campania during this period will find an event in Battipaglia that is sincere, popular, and completely non-touristy, just a few kilometers from the Cilento coast and the Paestum archaeological site.
From June 18 to 28, 2026, the Villa Comunale on Via Clarizia hosted the longest edition of the Cammarota Beer Festival: eleven consecutive days of music, taste, and inclusion, with free entry for everyone.
The food area grew to fourteen outdoor stalls, featuring fried pizza, arrosticini, craft burgers, and seafood specialties, alongside a beer selection designed for both social drinking and craft beer enthusiasts.
The musical program alternated between tribute bands of major Italian music names and local artists, with dance nights and DJ sets. The children's area with inflatables and wooden games was also very popular, allowing families to enjoy the park safely.
As per tradition, the 2026 edition organized by the Associazione Settecentomila Metriquadri ETS provided space for social inclusion initiatives and the promotion of local Piana del Sele associations, confirming the festival as one of the most attended summer events in the province of Salerno.
