Every year, on the most romantic night of the summer, Costigliole d'Asti joins Calici di Stelle, the major widespread food and wine event that the Movimento Turismo del Vino and the National Association of Wine Cities organize in hundreds of villages and wineries across Italy. In Costigliole, the event coincides with the Night of San Lorenzo, when the Perseid meteor shower draws its luminous trails across the Monferrato sky: the perfect moment to toast with your eyes turned upward.

A dinner under the stars in Piazza Umberto I

The heart of the evening is the dinner under the stars set up in the central Piazza Umberto I. The local Pro Loco coordinates the initiative together with a group of area restaurateurs, each with their own offerings: you sit outdoors, choose dishes from the various stands, and pair everything with wines from the Cantina Comunale, the historic Enoteca della Barbera that houses the town's labels.

The menu brings Asti tradition and a few surprise dishes to the table: mixed appetizers, eel, ravioli, roast beef, and, to end on a sweet note, bunet and sweet focaccia with hazelnut cream. It is a convivial dinner, designed for families, couples, and groups of friends, where you eat well at a fair price and stay in the square until late.

Music, art, and a starry sky

Accompanying the dinner is live music, entrusted in recent years to the group Lui, lei e l'altro, which enlivens the square with a light and engaging repertoire. However, Calici di Stelle in Costigliole is not just about good food and wine: the evening also becomes an opportunity to discover the treasures of the village. The Rocca and the Castello degli Asinari and the church of San Gerolamo, home to the Museum of Sacred Art, remain open to the public in the evening.
