The music festival of the Municipal School of Music at the Teatro Roma in Castagneto Carducci
In the heart of the Etruscan Coast, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci (Province of Livorno, Tuscany), the Caleidoscopio festival transforms the Teatro Roma every spring into a showcase for music in the making. The event is organized by the Municipal School of Music of Castagneto Carducci (CFDMA), directed by Maestro Federico Rovini, in collaboration with the local municipality and the historic Filarmonica Comunale.
The name is no coincidence: just like a kaleidoscope, different musical colors and forms alternate on the stage of the Teatro Roma. The program ranges from pop-rock ensemble courses to concert bands, as well as various instrumental ensembles and choral projects. The common thread is ensemble music, viewed as an experience of socialization and growth for young students, as well as a performance capable of engaging the audience.
Caleidoscopio is the moment when the Municipal School of Music opens its doors to the community. With locations at the Bezzini Schools in Donoratico and the Scuolina in Marina di Castagneto, the CFDMA offers individual courses (guitar, piano, drums, wind instruments, singing, violin) and group lessons, in addition to the concert band program created with the Filarmonica Comunale. The festival showcases this educational journey, displaying the results of a year's work to parents and music lovers.
Each edition is enriched by the presence of guest schools and musical groups, chosen to strengthen Tuscany's educational network. The philosophy is one of encounter: bringing students from different areas together to play, share repertoires, and share the stage. This is how Caleidoscopio becomes, year after year, a small but vibrant musical laboratory overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Caleidoscopio is proof that even in a provincial town, music can become a highly anticipated event, capable of uniting schools, institutions, and the public under the banner of shared passion.
The 18th edition of Caleidoscopio brought the Teatro Roma in Castagneto Carducci to life from April 17 to 19, 2026. Organized by the Municipal School of Music (CFDMA) with the local municipality, the edition featured the Giuseppe Verdi Music School of Prato as a guest, chosen to strengthen a stable collaboration with a nearby musical institution. The program was largely dedicated to pop-rock ensemble music courses, with a repertoire ranging from the great classics of The Beatles to Brit-pop.
