Authors, exhibitions, and literary meetings in the historic centre of Cairo
The Cairo Montenotte Book Fair is the literary review of Cairo Montenotte, a town in the Bormida Valley in the province of Savona. Although it is a young event, it has quickly established itself, bringing authors, publishers, and protagonists of Italian culture to an area of the Ligurian hinterland often far from the mainstream circuits.
The programme unfolds in the historic centre of the city, with author meetings, book presentations, exhibitions, and various activities. Curated by Francesca Fabbri Fellini, the fair proposes a theme each year that serves as a common thread for the events, accompanied by exhibitions set up in the most evocative locations of the village.
Organised by the Municipality of Cairo Montenotte with the De Mari Foundation, the event is the result of a collaboration aimed at making culture a driver of development for the Bormida Valley. The national guest authors and the exhibitions set up in the historic centre testify to the ambition of a fair that grows with each edition.
Experiencing the Book Fair also means discovering Cairo Montenotte and its historic centre, with its medieval glimpses and lively squares. An opportunity to combine a passion for reading with a visit to an authentic corner of the Savona hinterland, on the border with Piedmont.
The 2026 edition, the 4th, of the Cairo Montenotte Book Fair takes place from June 3 to 7 with the theme 'Blooming with Stories'. The review, curated by Francesca Fabbri Fellini, brings seven national authors to the historic centre of Cairo and sets up four exhibitions. The meetings, presentations, and exhibitions enliven the streets and squares of the village. The event is organised by the Municipality of Cairo Montenotte with the De Mari Foundation; the detailed programme will be published closer to the event.
Curated by Francesca Fabbri Fellini. The complete guest list will be published by the Municipality closer to the event.
Cairo Montenotte is reached from the Altare exit (A6 TurinโSavona motorway) and is served by the railway station on the SavonaโSan Giuseppe di Cairo line. The events take place in the historic centre.
Meetings and exhibitions are generally free to enter. The complete programme is published by the Municipality of Cairo Montenotte.
