A week of world-class chamber music in the villages of the Crete Senesi
The Cacciaconti Music Festival is a chamber music series that, every summer, brings internationally renowned performers to some of the most evocative spots in the Sienese countryside, spanning the Crete Senesi, Valdichiana, and Val d'Orcia. The first and most extensive part of the program takes place in Trequanda, a small municipality in the province of Siena, and in the nearby villages, while a second artistic residency closes the season in late August in Radicofani, in the Val d'Orcia.
Produced by the Milano Classica orchestra and entrusted to the artistic direction of violinists Steven Slade and Ariana Kim, the festival takes its name from the Cacciaconti family, who ruled these territories starting from the 9th century. The guiding concept is that of a "widespread festival" that recalls the tradition of cultural and artistic salons in the Tuscan countryside: a "SlowFestival" that invites both the public and musicians to coexist in places chosen for their untouched beauty and natural intimacy.
The 2026 edition, the second of the series, offers nine concerts in Trequanda from June 19 to 25, with a repertoire spanning over two centuries of music history, from Mozart and Beethoven to Debussy, Bartók, and Stravinsky. The concerts are held in locations of great charm: the Parco delle Mura "Ornella Pancirolli" and the Church of Santi Pietro e Andrea in Trequanda, the Pieve di Santo Stefano a Cennano in Castelmuzio, and the Castello Cacciaconti.
The Trequanda program brings together some of the most important names on the classical and chamber music scene:
The inaugural concert on June 19, held in collaboration with the Accademia Chigiana of Siena, marks the start of a week designed for those who wish to combine listening to great music with discovering an authentic corner of Tuscany. The setting of the Trequanda municipality and the Crete Senesi—a land of medieval villages, olive groves, and world-famous landscapes—amplifies the experience, transforming every evening into a dialogue between sound and landscape.
With the quality of its performers and the refinement of its programming, the Cacciaconti Music Festival has quickly established itself as a reference point for classical and chamber music enthusiasts seeking an intimate, high-level experience away from large concert halls and immersed in the beauty of the province of Siena.
The 2026 edition in Trequanda features nine concerts over seven days, with a repertoire ranging from Mozart and Beethoven to Debussy, Bartók, and Stravinsky. The festival opens on June 19 with Ariana Kim and the Orchestra Milano Classica (Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky), in collaboration with the Accademia Chigiana, and continues with recitals by Roberto Prosseda and Alexander Lonquich, the virtuoso duo Giuseppe Gibboni–Carlotta Dalia, the Quartetto di Cremona with Maya Oganyan, the Quartetto Indaco, and I Solisti di Fiesole. The concerts are held between the Parco delle Mura Pancirolli, the Church of Santi Pietro e Andrea, the Pieve di Santo Stefano a Cennano (Castelmuzio), and the Castello Cacciaconti.
Trequanda can be reached by car from the Valdichiana exit of the A1 motorway, continuing along the provincial roads of the Crete Senesi. The nearest train stations are Sinalunga and Chiusi-Chianciano Terme, which are connected by bus services.
The concerts are held in multiple locations across the territory: the Parco delle Mura "Ornella Pancirolli" and the Church of Santi Pietro e Andrea in Trequanda (SI), the Pieve di Santo Stefano a Cennano in Castelmuzio, and the Castello Cacciaconti.
