Poetry, dialect, and arts competitions return to their origins, in Riofreddo di Murialdo
In Riofreddo, a hamlet of the Municipality of Murialdo in the upper Bormida Valley (Province of Savona), the caARTEiv Festival of Arts is a cultural event that rewards widespread creativity. It all began in July 1998, when Simona Bellone conceived the first competition, titled "Poetando alle Pendici del Monte Camulera" (Poeting on the Slopes of Monte Camulera), at the church of San Rocco in Riofreddo. Since then, the festival has grown to become a recognized event, organized by the caARTEiv Association.
The heart of the festival lies in its competitions, divided into numerous sections: poetry, haiku, dialect, humorous compositions, short stories, books, and digital works. Alongside the awards, a collective exhibition provides space for visual arts. It is an event that values writing, local language, and artistic expression in all its forms, involving authors and enthusiasts from all backgrounds.
This edition marks a return to the roots, in the hamlet of Riofreddo where it all began. The new venue is the Antica Casa Bellone, an agriturismo and emerging cultural hub that also houses the Museum of Aviator Vittorio Centurione Scotto. The awards ceremony takes place at the end of July, the core of a season of artistic events that the association has been animating from May to October. For those who love culture away from the main circuits, the caARTEiv Festival is an authentic discovery of the Savona hinterland.
The 2026 edition of the caARTEiv Festival of Arts marks a significant return to its origins, in the hamlet of Riofreddo where the first competition was held in 1998.
