The historic wine festival of Upper Piedmont featuring tastings, vineyard tours, and local tradition
The Boca DOC Wine Exhibition and Market is one of the longest-running and most beloved wine events in Upper Piedmont. Every year, between late May and early June, the small town of Boca, in the Province of Novara, becomes a showcase for a rare and precious wine that embodies the history and dedication of a hilly territory devoted to mountain viticulture.
Organized by the Pro Loco of Boca, the event has its beating heart in the tasting cellar at Viale Partigiani 9, where visitors can sample and purchase labels from local producers throughout the exhibition. It is not just about Boca DOC, but also the wines of the Colline Novaresi: a unique opportunity to discover the oenological variety of this corner of Piedmont.
Boca is a red wine primarily made from Nebbiolo grapesโknown locally as Spannaโblended with Vespolina and a portion of Uva Rara (the Novara Bonarda). It is a wine with great structure, suitable for long aging, and produced from vineyards rooted in volcanic soilsโa geological feature that gives it its unmistakable elegance and minerality.
The exhibition is much more than a wine market. On weekends, the program is enriched with leisurely walks through the vineyards, accompanied by a snack in the countryside; dinners by reservation featuring traditional local dishes; technical tastings guided by sommeliers; and in-depth meetings with the producers. The event is also family-friendly, thanks to the local parish volunteers who organize activities for children.
Visiting the Wine Exhibition is also a chance to discover the village of Boca and the surrounding landscape, set at the foot of Monte Fenera. This area of Upper Piedmont preserves not only wine but also a network of historic cellars and a genuine food and wine tradition, best experienced at a slow pace in the company of those who produce these wines every day.
The 53rd edition of the Boca DOC Wine Exhibition and Market takes place from May 16 to June 2, 2026, marking a special milestone: 57 years since the recognition of the Boca Controlled Designation of Origin. For over two weeks, the tasting cellar at Viale Partigiani 9 welcomes enthusiasts and industry professionals on a journey through the best Boca DOC and Colline Novaresi wines.
Alongside the tastings, the program includes walks through the vines, dinners by reservation featuring traditional dishes, guided technical tastings, and in-depth sessions dedicated to the territory and its wines.
Tasting cellar hours: Saturday 3:00 PM-8:00 PM; Sundays and holidays 10:00 AM-8:00 PM; Monday, June 1st 10:00 AM-8:00 PM.
Participating producers include historic local estates such as Antonio Vallana, Cantine Guidetti, Le Piane, Tenute Guardasole, and other wineries from the Novara hills. The full program is available on the Boca Pro Loco website.
