Birre al Castello: craft beer meets the Salento fortress

Birre al Castello is the event dedicated to craft beer that every summer transforms the evocative Castello Volante of Corigliano d'Otranto, in the province of Lecce, into a large open-air brewing festival. In the heart of Grecìa Salentina, the ancient fortress with its towers, walkways, and moat welcomes thousands of enthusiasts and curious visitors for three evenings, featuring beer taps, tastings, and great music under the stars.

A journey through dozens of craft beers

The heart of the event is the beer selection: previous editions have featured approximately 80 craft beers across 60 taps, showcasing some of the best Italian microbreweries alongside an international selection. Guest breweries have included Apulian and Southern producers like Birranova, Delta Esse, and Sbam! Social Brewery, alongside renowned national names, offering a tasting journey ranging from low-fermentation styles to the most intense IPAs.

Street food, guided tours, and culture

The castle's Moat comes alive with a gastronomic area, offering quality street food and Salento specialties: puccia, fried delicacies, burgers, and traditional dishes. The Sulle Vie della Birra association and the castle's Infopoint organize guided tours of the towers, terraces, and moats, accompanied by tastings and meetings with brewers to share the history of the fortress and the culture of craft beer with the public.

Live music and families

Every evening, the festival offers live music and DJ sets: selections of soul, funk, R'n'B, reggae, and other sounds that keep the evenings lively until late. There are also shows for children and activities designed for families, making Birre al Castello an event open to all ages.

A local event

Conceived by the Bluebeat Pub of Lecce and organized in collaboration with CoolClub, with the patronage of the Municipality of Corigliano d'Otranto, Birre al Castello has become a landmark summer appointment for Puglia and the Salento region. The setting of the Castello Volante, the town's iconic monument, adds charm to an event that unites tourism, taste, and the promotion of local historical heritage.
