The craft beer festival by the sea in Torre Suda
Birra Suda Fest was launched in 2025 as a new summer highlight in Torre Suda, the seaside district of Racale overlooking the Ionian coast of lower Salento, in the province of Lecce. The setting is the "Gabriele Toma" Coastal Garden, a green space just meters from the sea that transforms into a vibrant village of beer, street food, and live music for four nights. The concept, created by the M8 Event association, focuses on an informal and youthful atmosphere: it is more of a place to experience than an event to simply visit.
The heart of the festival is its craft beers: over thirty varieties, including Italian labels and international brews, served on tap and in bottles. Complementing them is a curated gastronomic selection that pairs quality street food with creative twists on Salento traditions, designed to enhance every flavor. It is a culinary journey that invites you to stroll between stalls with a glass in hand, enjoying the evening breeze from the Ionian Sea.
Each evening features live concerts and musical entertainment, with a lineup that blends well-known names from the Salento and Italian scenes with up-and-coming acts. The audience is diverse: families in the early evening, and groups of friends and beer enthusiasts late into the night. Free admission and the seaside location make Birra Suda Fest one of the most popular events in early July in the Racale area.
The festival is part of the rich summer calendar of the Municipality of Racale and the entire Salento region, where food festivals, patronal feasts, and musical reviews enliven every evening of the season. Held in early July, before the peak crowds of mid-August, Birra Suda Fest offers a chance to discover Torre Suda and the Ionian coast of Puglia during a quieter time, combining flavor, music, and the charm of the Salento sea.
Birra Suda Fest returns to Torre Suda for its second edition, scheduled from July 3 to 6, 2026, in the "Gabriele Toma" Coastal Garden, just a few steps from the Ionian Sea in Racale. For 2026, the formula once again includes over thirty types of craft and international beers, quality street food with traditional Salento dishes, and evenings of live music, all with free admission.
The detailed program with artists and performance times has not yet been published by the organizers; updates are expected on the event's official social media channels in the weeks leading up to the festival.
Torre Suda is the seaside district of Racale, on the Ionian coast of lower Salento. By car, it can be reached via the SS274 (Racale/Melissano exit) and the Ionian coastal roads. The nearest train stations are the Ferrovie del Sud Est stations in Racale and Ugento; the reference airport is Brindisi-Salento.
Admission is free. The event takes place in the "Gabriele Toma" Coastal Garden during the evening hours, with stalls opening and concerts starting in the late afternoon/evening.
During the festival, the seaside area is very busy: it is advisable to arrive early to find parking. For updated dates and the program, we recommend following the event's official social media channels.
