Ten days of peasant tradition in the Bormida Valley of Savona
In Plodio, a small municipality in the Bormida Valley in the province of Savona, the Farmer's Festival is the quintessential summer event. Organized by the Pro Loco of Plodio, the event has celebrated the agricultural and peasant tradition of the area for decades, attracting visitors from all over the valley.
The festival unfolds over several evenings with food stalls and musical entertainment; Sundays also include lunch service. Among the most characteristic events is the tractor skills competition, an authentic attraction that highlights the town's connection to working the fields.
The Farmer's Festival is a summer landmark in the Savona hinterland: a genuine village festival, capable of preserving the community spirit of peasant celebrations and promoting the products and cuisine of the Bormida Valley.
For 2026, the Farmer's Festival in Plodio is expected for its 56th edition, during the usual period between late July and early August. The event, organized by the Pro Loco, will again feature food stalls, evening musical entertainment, Sunday lunch service, and the traditional tractor skills competition. The detailed schedule will be published closer to the event.
The detailed 2026 program has not yet been published. The event typically includes:
By car: from the coast of Savona or Finale, head up towards the Bormida Valley; Plodio is located near Carcare and Cengio. A6 motorway exit at Altare-Carcare.
