A cycling excursion through the hills and villages of Buggiano
Bike per Colli is a cycling excursion that turns the hills of Buggiano, in the province of Pistoia, into a vast open-air trail to be enjoyed on two wheels. This is not a race; it is a non-competitive cycling tour open to everyone, where the focus is not on the clock, but on the pleasure of moving slowly through the nature, villages, and panoramic views of inland Tuscany.
The event takes place in the municipality of Buggiano, in the heart of the Valdinievole, winding through the hills and historic hamlets that define this corner of the Pistoia province, from Buggiano Castello to Colle di Buggiano and Stignano. The route alternates between climbs, breathtaking vistas, and stretches immersed in greenery, making it perfect for those looking to explore the Tuscan hilly landscape far from the beaten path.
What makes Bike per Colli special is not just the route, but the spirit of the event. Along the way, there are refreshment stops and social gatherings, turning the ride into an opportunity for sharing and discovering the local area. It is a convivial way to spend time together, filled with tasty breaks, conversation, and scenery to be admired without haste.
The event is open to those with traditional mountain bikes as well as those riding pedal-assisted e-bikes: the only requirement is a desire to experience the territory in motion. This inclusive spirit is at the heart of the initiative, organized by the Cooperativa Sociale Selva, an organization that has long combined regional promotion, sports, the environment, and social inclusion.
Bike per Colli is not an isolated event: it is part of the larger Bella Vista Social Fest & Sgranar per Colli, three days of walks, bike rides, music, and flavors that bring the Parco OX - Centro Giovani in Buggiano to life. Alongside the bike ride, the event features the famous Sgranar per Colli tasting walks, with stops to sample local products, and evening concerts dedicated to the new Italian pop and singer-songwriter scene, all with free admission.
Participating in Bike per Colli means becoming part of a widespread festival that celebrates slowness, nature, and the community of the Valdinievole: a day to be experienced in the saddle, but also an opportunity to savor the hospitality of Buggiano and its hills.
The 2026 edition of Bike per Colli was held on Sunday, June 7, 2026, with a meeting point and opening of the registration stand from 8:00 AM and departure at 8:30 AM from the OX - Centro Giovani Polifunzionale in Buggiano. The day was the final act of the Bella Vista Social Fest & Sgranar per Colli, scheduled from June 5 to 7.
The ride, non-competitive and open to mountain bikes and e-bikes, crossed the hills and villages of the Municipality of Buggiano with refreshment stops along the way. The edition coincided with the celebrations for the ten years of the event and the twenty years of the Cooperativa Sociale Selva, which promotes it.
Bike per Colli is part of the Bella Vista Social Fest & Sgranar per Colli (June 5-7, 2026): on the previous evenings, free concerts at Parco OX featured L'Albero and Lumiero (Friday, June 5), and Dario Bassolino with the "Città Futura" project and the duo Admiral, with a DJ set by the Limonaia di Fucecchio (Saturday, June 6). On Sunday, the Sgranar per Colli tasting walk also took place between Buggiano Castello, Colle, and Stignano.
The starting point is the OX - Centro Giovani Polifunzionale, on Via Cesare Battisti in Borgo a Buggiano (51011, PT). By car, it is easily reached from the Chiesina Uzzanese or Montecatini Terme exits on the A11 Firenze-Mare motorway. By train, the reference station is Montecatini Terme-Monsummano, just a few kilometers away.
Participation requires a registration fee (approximately 15-20 euros per person depending on the edition). Registration is available online on the official website until spots run out, with an on-site registration stand opening on the morning of the event. Those without a bicycle can, in some editions, rent one on-site by reservation.
We recommend sportswear, a helmet, and a bike (mountain bike or e-bike) in good condition. As this is a hilly route, it is useful to bring water and be prepared for some uphill sections. For information: [email protected].
