About Bianca Lancia

Bianca Lancia - The Beauty of the Tower is an itinerant theatrical performance that transforms the alleys, ancient walls, and squares of the medieval village of Brolo, on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Nebrodi Riviera, into a vast open-air stage every summer. Written and directed by Marco Savatteri, the event weaves reality and legend around the figure of Bianca Lancia, the noblewoman tied to the history of the Castle of Brolo, guiding the audience through an evocative journey featuring actors, musicians, jugglers, and visual arts, culminating at the Tower overlooking the sea.

A legend brought to life among the stones of Brolo

Bianca Lancia - The Beauty of the Tower is one of the most beloved cultural events of the summer in Brolo, a small village overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Metropolitan City of Messina, Sicily, along the stunning Nebrodi Riviera. The show was created to tell the story of the historical and legendary figure of Bianca Lancia, a noblewoman linked to the events of the Sicilian Middle Ages, and to intertwine her tale with that of the Castle of Brolo and its ancient tower overlooking the sea.

An open-air itinerant theatre

The event is not a simple performance to be watched from a seat in the stalls, but an immersive experience to be savored slowly. The audience, guided from stage to stage, traverses the squares, balconies, walls, and clearings of the medieval village, where the narrative unfolds scene by scene, finally reaching its moving conclusion inside the Castle and at the foot of the Tower that dominates the sea.

  • Itinerant performance through the alleys of the historic centre
  • Actors, narrators, musicians, jugglers, and visual artists
  • Video mapping and scenic lighting that enhance the ancient architecture and stone
  • Multiple evening performances for each day of the programme

The artistic signature

The show is written and directed by Marco Savatteri, with writing collaboration from Salvatore Gentile and video mapping curated by Leonardo Bruno. The production is managed by the Municipality of Brolo, with institutional support and patronage, and organization also entrusted to the local Pro Loco.

History and editions

Launched in 2023, the event has grown rapidly, becoming a staple of the Brolo summer: the second edition was held in August 2024, and the third in July 2025, consistently taking place between July and August. The Municipality of Brolo and the Pro Loco have confirmed their intention to bring the event back for the summer of 2026: the dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced.

Why it is worth the trip

Combining history, myth, and the beauty of the location, Bianca Lancia - The Beauty of the Tower is a unique opportunity to discover one of the most characteristic villages on the Messina Tyrrhenian coast, experiencing the charm of the Castle of Brolo in a nocturnal, theatrical setting like no other.
