A Tyrolean-style village in the Prenestini Mountains, just a short drive from Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Perched atop the Prenestini Mountains, just over an hour from Rome, the village of Bellegra is known as the "City of Panoramas" for its sweeping views of the Aniene Valley. During the holiday season, the historic center dresses up for the occasion, becoming one of the most evocative Christmas markets in the eastern province of Rome, with a setting that recalls the traditional mountain villages of the Tyrol.
The heart of the event is Piazza del Municipio, where characteristic Tyrolean-style wooden chalets are set up. Amidst the lights and decorations, you can find handmade gifts, ornaments, holiday sweets, and local products: extra virgin olive oil, honey, jams, and regional wines. A covered tasting area allows visitors to savor the traditional cuisine of the Prenestini Mountains in a convivial atmosphere.
Next to the markets, an ice skating rink is installed, a favorite among children and open throughout the holiday season. There is also a Santa's House, along with workshops, children's entertainment, and musical performances that make Bellegra an ideal destination for a family Christmas trip.
The festival, which takes place on weekends from early December until Epiphany, offers a dense program of events: the tree lighting with children's choirs, tastings dedicated to Cesanese wine, workshops for the little ones, concerts by the Bellegra Music Band and local choirs, the cheerful parade of Santa Clauses on motorcycles, New Year's Eve celebrations in the square, and, on January 6th, the arrival of the Befana with the distribution of gifts.
Organized by the Municipality and the Pro Loco of Bellegra, the Christmas Markets celebrate the identity of this corner of Lazio and its food and wine excellence. Its proximity to Rome and other villages in the Prenestini Mountains makes the event a perfect stop for those seeking an authentic holiday atmosphere just a short distance from the capital.
The official calendar for the 2026 edition of the Bellegra Christmas Markets has not yet been released. Following the tradition of recent seasons, the event is expected to return to Piazza del Municipio on the weekends of December, with wooden chalets, local products from the Prenestini Mountains, an ice skating rink, and family activities running until January 6th.
For confirmed dates and the full program, we recommend checking the website www.bellegra.eu and the social media channels of the Pro Loco of Bellegra.
Bellegra is located in the Prenestini Mountains, in the province of Rome. By car from Rome, take the A24 motorway (Vicovaro-Mandela exit) or the Via Prenestina/Casilina towards the Aniene Valley. The nearest train station is Roiate-Bellegra on the Rome-Fiuggi line (connecting bus services to the town center are available).
The markets are open on weekends and public holidays, generally from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Admission to the market area is free; certain activities, such as the ice skating rink, may have a separate fee.
