An afternoon dedicated to bees and biodiversity at Parco del Cerchio in Cavriago
The Bee Festival is the spring event that in Cavriago, in the province of Reggio Emilia (Emilia-Romagna), celebrates the fundamental role of pollinating insects and the defense of biodiversity. The event takes place at the Parco del Cerchio, in via Don Magnani, a green space in the heart of the town that for an afternoon is filled with workshops, stalls, and activities designed especially for children and their families.
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Cavriago together with the association GreeTeam (Green Team Cavriago), with the involvement of numerous local entities: beekeepers, farms, volunteer associations, and local groups that animate the various points of the park. The goal is both educational and fun: to introduce adults and children to the world of bees and to help them understand how precious these insects are for ecosystems and our food.
The program is rich and free. Among the most popular offerings is the educational beehive, managed by Allodi Apicoltura, which allows a close-up look at the life of a hive. There are also workshops on making seed bombs proposed by the Garden of Beekeepers, drawing workshops by the Carmen Zanti and Insieme ATDA associations, and cork printing. For children, there are bee and insect-themed face painting, traditional wooden games, and the ever-popular sack race.
The most anticipated moment is the Bee Hunt, a team-based treasure hunt that winds through the park's trees and flowers. The activity is divided by age groups, so that each child can participate with their peers, with registrations taken directly on-site until places are filled.
Completing the day are the refreshment stands, with artisanal ice cream and craft beer for adults, in a village festival atmosphere that attracts hundreds of people each year. The Bee Festival is now a recurring event on Cavriago's calendar and an opportunity to rediscover the value of nature right in the heart of the community.
The Bee Festival 2026 was held on Saturday, April 18, at Parco del Cerchio in Cavriago, starting at 3:00 PM. The afternoon offered numerous free activities for families and children: the educational beehive by Allodi Apicoltura, seed bomb workshops by the Garden of Beekeepers, drawing workshops by the Carmen Zanti and Insieme ATDA associations, cork printing, as well as bee and insect-themed face painting and traditional wooden games with a sack race. Refreshment stands with ice cream and craft beer accompanied the day.
