About Battiti - The Art of R-EXISTING

In Almese, Susa Valley, the sixth edition of The Art of R-EXISTING returns: a cultural project created by the Cumalè association that weaves together contemporary art, memory, and nature. From May 16 to July 5, 2026, the Ricetto per l'Arte hosts the interactive exhibition Battiti - Herbarium Indocile, dedicated to wild herbs and pollinator plants, featuring workshops, walks, and meetings that culminate in the Art Festival at Parco del Messa on July 2.

A project celebrating biodiversity and creativity

Battiti - Herbarium Indocile is the heart of the sixth edition of The Art of R-EXISTING on the paths of Freedom, a cultural project launched in 2021 by the Cumalè association in the town of Almese, in the province of Turin, at the foot of Mount Musinè in the Susa Valley. The event intertwines contemporary art, historical memory, civic engagement, and nature conservation, transforming the lower Susa Valley into a widespread trail of exhibitions and experiences.

The Herbarium Indocile exhibition

From May 16 to July 5, 2026, the Ricetto per l'Arte - Agorà della Valsusa in Almese hosts the interactive exhibition Battiti - Herbarium Indocile, a journey that places wild herbs center stage. The exhibition is curated by three local artists from the lower Susa Valley: Valentina Bollo, Valentina Mangini, and Valentina Rossi. The chosen theme highlights the deep connection between biodiversity, culture, and local identity, with an opening that symbolically coincides with World Bee Day.

A widespread program

The 2026 edition offers a series of events spread between May and July, designed to engage the community:

  • Saturday, May 16, 3:00 PM: Opening of the Battiti - Herbarium Indocile exhibition at Ricetto per l'Arte;
  • Saturday, May 16, 4:30 PM: Participatory workshop Don't call us weeds - Wild map of the Ricetto, created by Arianna Abis and Simona Souberan;
  • Sunday, May 17, 4:00 PM: Workshop The pin and the leaf on creating a herbarium, led by Luca Giunti from the Alpi Cozie Parks;
  • June 12 to July 5: Collective exhibition Eliotropia at the Torre e ricetto di San Mauro;

A networked territory

The project is promoted by the Cumalè association together with the Monte Musinè District of Commerce and the Metropolitan Pollinators Association, involving the municipalities of Almese, Villar Dora, and Caselette. The event is sponsored by the Piedmont Region, the Metropolitan City of Turin, the Susa Valley Mountain Union, and the Alpi Cozie Parks Authority.
