Barbianer Genussbrücke

A dinner suspended in mid-air in the Isarco Valley

The Barbianer Genussbrücke (literally the "Bridge of Taste" of Barbiano) is one of the most evocative culinary events in South Tyrol. The experience takes place on the Barbiano panoramic suspension bridge, a 120-meter-long walkway hovering 55 meters above the Ganderbach stream, along the famous Keschtnweg, or Chestnut Trail. A unique long table is set directly on the bridge, offering diners a dizzying perspective over the Barbiano waterfalls and the entire Isarco Valley.

Six restaurants, five courses

The heart of the event is a five-course menu crafted from typical products of the Barbiano area. It is created by six local restaurants and inns collaborating for the occasion: Messnerhof, Zur Traube, Saubacherhof, Barbianerhof, Rösslwirt, and Briol/Einäugl. Each course is paired with a wine from the Isarco Valley (Eisacktal), one of South Tyrol's most renowned wine-growing areas for aromatic whites. The evening begins with an aperitif accompanied by live music.

An event in the Municipality of Barbiano

The Barbianer Genussbrücke is held in the Municipality of Barbiano (Barbian), in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. The village, nestled above the Isarco Valley between Chiusa and Ponte Gardena, is famous for its waterfalls and its leaning bell tower. The event is organized by the Barbiano tourist board and is strictly limited in capacity: to ensure safety and comfort on the bridge, spots are limited and must be booked in advance. This summer staple regularly sells out well ahead of time.
