Live music amidst the Greek ruins of the Morgantina Archaeological Park
The Barbablù Fest is one of the most evocative cultural events of the Sicilian summer. It takes place in the Morgantina Archaeological Area, an ancient Greek city located in the territory of Aidone, in the province of Enna, in the heart of inland Sicily. Here, among the Greek theatre, the agora, and the remains of Hellenistic dwellings, live concerts come to life in an unparalleled setting, where the archaeological landscape becomes an integral part of the musical experience.
The festival owes its name to the famous Head of Hades, a refined terracotta masterpiece of Greek sculpture that was stolen from Morgantina and later returned to Sicily. The work was nicknamed "Barbablù" due to the characteristic curls of its beard painted in blue. The festival's cultural project, conceived by writer Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, was born around this symbol of the recovery of Sicilian identity and heritage.
Every summer, Barbablù Fest brings top-tier artists from the Italian and international music scene to the Morgantina stage, ranging from singer-songwriters to soul, pop, light music, and the voices of the great operatic tradition. The festival weaves together music, culture, and regional promotion, aiming to refocus attention on Sicily's hinterland and boost local tourism and the economy.
The artistic direction is entrusted to Alberto Samonà, while production is handled by Terzo Millennio Progetti Artistici. The festival has progressively established itself as a landmark event in the cultural summer of the Enna province and all of Sicily, capable of attracting thousands of spectators over just a few days of programming.
The sixth edition of Barbablù Fest takes place in summer 2026 in the setting of the Morgantina Archaeological Area, in Aidone (Enna). The festival confirms its commitment to bringing major names in Italian and international music to the ruins of the ancient Greek city, in a harmonious dialogue between sound and archaeological landscape.
Among the already announced events, two high-profile concerts stand out: Mario Biondi and Noemi. Further dates and artists in the lineup will be communicated progressively through the festival's official channels.
The complete lineup for the 6th edition will be updated on the festival's official channels and on Terzo Millennio. Any additional concerts will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Morgantina Archaeological Area is located in the territory of Aidone (EN), in central Sicily. By car, it can be reached from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (Mulinello or Dittaino exit), continuing towards Aidone. The nearest airport is Catania-Fontanarossa, about an hour and a half away.
Tickets are available online at terzomillennio.info and TicketOne. Prices for individual concerts are around 30-32 euros plus booking fees.
Concerts take place in the evening (usually from 8:30 PM) outdoors: comfortable clothing and a sweater for the evening are recommended. We advise arriving early to enjoy the archaeological site.
