Music and archaeology between Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale
The Naxos Summer Fest is one of the most evocative summer music festivals in inland Sicily. Promoted by Orizzonti Armonici, the festival selects two extraordinary sites in the Enna region as its stage: the Morgantina Archaeological Park in the municipality of Aidone (Province of Enna) and the renowned Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous worldwide for its mosaics. Performing among the ruins of the ancient Greek city of Morgantina or beside late-Roman mosaics offers a musical experience that no concert hall could ever replicate.
The strength of the Naxos Summer Fest lies in the variety of its program: in just a few weeks, the lineup shifts from tributes to great international pop-rock to operatic arias, from Oscar-winning film scores to classical piano repertoire, and immersive experiences designed to move the audience at dusk. Each evening begins at 9:00 PM, when the sunset light over the archaeological sites creates an atmosphere that becomes an integral part of the show.
Morgantina, one of the most important archaeological areas in central Sicily, preserves the agora, the Greek theater, and the remains of a city that flourished between the Greek and Roman eras. A few kilometers away, the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina houses the largest and best-preserved cycle of Roman mosaics in the world. The festival was created specifically to highlight this combination of culture and live performance, transforming a visit to these sites into an emotional evening experience.
Now in its fifteenth year, the Naxos Summer Fest has established itself as a fixed appointment in the cultural summer between Aidone and Piazza Armerina, attracting tourists and music lovers from all over Sicily and beyond. It is a proposal that combines the discovery of archaeological heritage with the pleasure of a concert under the stars in the heart of the Sicilian Region.
The fifteenth edition of the Naxos Summer Fest takes place from July 18 to September 5, 2026, between Morgantina (Aidone) and the Villa Romana del Casale in Piazza Armerina. Six evenings, all starting at 9:00 PM, designed to enhance the two archaeological sites through a program that spans different genres and eras, from great international pop-rock to classical repertoire and film music.
The Morgantina Archaeological Park is located in the territory of Aidone (Province of Enna), in central Sicily. By car, it is easily reached from the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway, taking the Mulinello exit and continuing towards Aidone. The Villa Romana del Casale is located in Piazza Armerina, just a few kilometers away.
A season pass for the entire festival (all evenings) costs 50 euros. Tickets and information are available through the Vivaticket network.
All concerts begin at 9:00 PM. We recommend arriving early to enjoy the archaeological sites at sunset.
