Five days of music, art, and Mediterranean dialogue among the UNESCO sites of Central Sicily
The Between Music & Arts Festival is a multidisciplinary event bringing concerts, dance performances, art exhibitions, film screenings, and talks to the archaeological sites and historic landmarks of Central Sicily. This itinerant festival involves four municipalities in the Province of Enna and beyondโPiazza Armerina, Aidone, Mazzarino, and Pietraperziaโconnecting two extraordinary sites: the Villa Romana del Casale (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and the archaeological area of Morgantina.
In Aidone, a small town in the Province of Enna, the festival takes over the Archaeological Museum, which houses famous artifacts from Morgantina, including the Goddess of Morgantina and the acroliths. Events are held in the museum's evocative hanging garden, where live music blends with the ancient history of Greek and Roman Sicily. It is in this setting that the festival hosts some of its most anticipated concerts, drawing an attentive and curious audience.
Conceived by Roberto Grossi, the Between Festival was born with the goal of turning Sicily's ancient archaeological sites into living laboratories for contemporary creation. Each edition revolves around a theme that runs through the entire program, placing the Mediterranean at the center as a space for dialogue, encounter, and creativity. Alongside the performances, the festival offers international artistic production campuses, archaeology summer schools, and workshops involving young talents from across Europe and North Africa.
The programming ranges from jazz to singer-songwriter music, from contemporary dance to art installations and photography exhibitions, and even cinema. Over the years, the festival has hosted prominent Italian and international artists, with a special focus on cross-cultural exchange and languages that transcend borders.
All events at the Between Music & Arts Festival are free of charge, in line with the festival's mission to bring culture to local territories and connect the public with Sicily's archaeological heritage. It is a precious opportunity to discover Aidone, Piazza Armerina, and their treasures in a unique light, amidst sunset concerts, performances, and meetings.
The 5th edition of the Between Music & Arts Festival is held from July 1st to 5th, 2026, under the artistic direction of Stefano Mastruzzi and Roberto Grossi. The theme "Borders-Together" runs through the entire program and places the Mediterranean at the center as a space for dialogue, creativity, and cultural exchange. The festival is produced by the Archaeological Park of Morgantina and the Villa Romana del Casale in collaboration with Globart ETS and the Saint Louis College of Music.
The Aidone event is scheduled for July 4th in the hanging garden of the Archaeological Museum, where the Treasures of Morgantina provide the backdrop for live music.
Events in Aidone take place at the Archaeological Museum of Aidone (Province of Enna), in the museum's hanging garden. Other festival events are held in Piazza Armerina (Villa Romana del Casale, Palazzo Trigona, former convent of Sant'Anna), Mazzarino (Sofiana archaeological area), and Pietraperzia.
Aidone can be reached by car via the A19 Palermo-Catania motorway (recommended exits towards Enna) and the SS117bis state road. Piazza Armerina, the festival's main hub, is just a few kilometers away. The nearest train station is in Enna, from where you can continue by car or local bus services.
Free admission to all events.
For those visiting Aidone, it is well worth dedicating time to the Archaeological Museum to admire the Treasures of Morgantina and the adjacent archaeological area.
