The Biella stop of the world tour dedicated to mountain and adventure cinema
The BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour lands in the town of Candelo, in the province of Biella, Piedmont, for an evening dedicated to the best adventure, exploration, and outdoor sports films projected on the big screen at the Cinema Verdi. The festival is the touring version of the prestigious event founded in 1976 in Banff, Canada, considered the most important international film event dedicated to mountains and outdoor activities.
Each stop offers a selection of short and medium-length films that were awarded or were finalists at the original festival: ranging from extreme skiing to mountaineering, ice climbing to whitewater kayaking, and mountain biking to major exploratory expeditions. The program brings together about six films, chosen from the most intense and spectacular works of the season, capable of capturing the emotion and beauty of mountain environments around the world.
The Candelo evening is enriched by the presence of a special guest linked to the Biella area: mountaineer and alpine guide Enrico Rosso, an interpreter of the alpine style in its most essential form. In a brief discussion with the audience, Rosso shares how expeditions are born and how passion, lightness, and determination transform a challenge into a concrete adventure, offering an authentic look at mountain culture.
The event is managed by Itaca Srl, the organizer of the Italian tour, in collaboration with the Biella Section of the Italian Alpine Club. The Biella stop is now a highly anticipated event for local mountain enthusiasts, who fill the halls of the Cinema Verdi every year. The village of Candelo, also famous for its medieval Ricetto, one of the most evocative in Piedmont, thus hosts an event of international appeal that combines sport, nature, and great cinema.
The Candelo stop is part of the broader BANFF Mountain Film Festival World Tour Italy, which visits over forty cities between Italy and Switzerland every year, from the north to the south of the peninsula. For Candelo, this is an important showcase, bringing the best of world adventure cinema to the province of Biella in an evening designed for those who love the mountains and the stories that unfold there.
