About Balduina Street Food

For an entire weekend, Piazza della Balduina transforms into the neighborhood's largest open-air restaurant: over twenty selected street chefs, food trucks, and cooking stations offer Italian regional specialties and international cuisines, from Sicilian arancini and Apulian bombette to American barbecue and Venezuelan arepas. Unfiltered Bavarian beer, signature cocktails, vibrant lighting, and music round out this free-entry event by TTS Food, now one of the most anticipated street food stops in the Capital.

Street food arrives in Piazza della Balduina

The Balduina TTS Street Food is the gastronomic event that, every early June, brings one of the most characteristic neighborhoods of North Rome to life, nestled on the slopes of Monte Mario in the XIV Municipality. For three days, a portion of the Piazza della Balduina parking area is transformed into a true village of taste: open-air tables, scenic lighting, music, and a lineup of food trucks that, following the formula created by TTS Food, becomes "the neighborhood's largest open-air restaurant."

The event is part of the calendar of widespread events of the Municipality of Rome and the Lazio Region, where the phenomenon of quality street food now has a consolidated tradition: no longer just fast food, but fresh cuisine prepared in front of the public by professionals who bring regional recipes and international dishes to the square.

Over twenty street chefs in the square

The heart of the event is the selection of operators: more than twenty street chefs arrive from all over Italy with their mobile kitchens. The offering spans the peninsula with specialties that tell the story of their territories of origin, while a second, entirely international soul broadens the perspective to other continents.

  • Sicily: arancini, cannoli, and cassatine prepared on the spot
  • Apulia: bombette and grilled meats from the Murgia tradition
  • Abruzzo: sheep arrosticini cooked on the traditional canaletta grill
  • Rome and Lazio: fried foods and recipes from Roman cuisine
  • Cuisines of the world: Mexican tacos, Venezuelan arepas, Greek souvlaki, Indian curries, American barbecue, Spanish paella, and Argentine meats
  • Desserts: fresh tiramisu and crepes, churros, and street pastries

Special attention is paid to specific dietary needs: vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available in the square, clearly marked at individual stands.

Bavarian beer and Drink Lab

Alongside the kitchens, the beverage area is one of the hallmarks of the format. Unfiltered craft beer from the Landshuter Brauhaus, a historic Bavarian brewery, is on tap, while the Drink Lab, created in collaboration with Campari Group, offers spritz and signature cocktails prepared by professional bartenders. Water is served in recyclable Tetra Pak containers, a choice that reflects the organizers' focus on the event's sustainability.

A free-entry neighborhood event

Admission is free and the formula is designed for the local public: families, groups of friends, and neighborhood residents who find a large open-air dining area right on their doorstep for the weekend. The first edition, in June 2025, attracted thousands of visitors and convinced the organizers to bring the event back, confirming Balduina as one of the Roman squares best suited for this type of gathering.

When to go

The formula is always the same: opening on Friday in the late afternoon, then Saturday and Sunday from lunchtime until midnight. We recommend arriving early in the evening, when the square lights up with scenic decorations but queues at the stands are still manageable; those who prefer a quieter atmosphere can opt for Saturday or Sunday lunch.

Balduina Street Food — edition 2026

The second edition of the Balduina TTS Street Food took place from Friday, June 5 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, in Piazza della Balduina, North Rome. Over twenty selected street chefs brought food trucks and cooking stations to the square with Italian specialties and international cuisines, accompanied by unfiltered Bavarian beer from Landshuter Brauhaus and the Drink Lab with signature cocktails. Free entry for all three days.

2026 Edition

From June 5 to 7, 2026, Piazza della Balduina hosted the second edition of the Balduina TTS Street Food, confirming the success of the previous year's debut. Part of the square's parking area was set up as a large open-air dining room, with tables, scenic lighting, and music throughout the weekend.

Over twenty street chefs offered a gastronomic journey that combined Italian regions — Sicily, Apulia, Marche, Abruzzo — and international cuisines, from Mexico to Venezuela, from Greece to India, to American barbecue, Spain, and Argentina. There was no shortage of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, nor street desserts.

In the beverage area, unfiltered craft beer from the Bavarian brewery Landshuter Brauhaus and the Drink Lab curated in collaboration with Campari Group, featuring spritz and cocktails prepared by professional bartenders. Water was served in recyclable Tetra Pak containers.
