Romagnol folk music meets world music at the Rubicone Arena in Gatteo Mare
The Balamondo World Music Festival is one of the most original music events on the Romagna Riviera: a travelling festival that crosses various municipalities in Romagna and finds one of its most anticipated stops in Gatteo Mare, a seaside resort in the Municipality of Gatteo in the Province of Forlì-Cesena (Emilia-Romagna). The evening is held at the Rubicone Arena, one of the largest open-air arenas on the coast, the heart of the summer events along the seafront.
Conceived and artistically directed by Mirko Casadei, heir to the great tradition of the orchestra founded by his great-uncle Secondo Casadei, Balamondo was born from a simple and powerful idea: to bring artists to the stage who intertwine their musical roots with liscio, the dance music that is the identity heritage of Romagna. This results in a journey of fusion and experimentation that over the years has seen Casadei's POPular Folk Orchestra dialogue with major names in international music.
The Gatteo Mare stop features the Mirko Casadei Big Band in the show «Amico Sole», a concert that combines energy, rhythm, and Mediterranean warmth. Special guest Ologramma also takes the stage, described as «an inclusive family» where musicians with and without disabilities play together: a project that uses music as a tool for connection and breaking down barriers.
The audience is invited to dance and be carried away by a repertoire ranging from the traditional waltzes and mazurkas of Romagna to explorations of world rhythms. It's an opportunity to discover how local folk music can become a universal language, capable of bridging different generations and cultures.
This stop is part of Gatteo Mare's rich summer calendar, which offers over two hundred events each year, including music, shows, and family activities. Admission is free until capacity is reached, in line with the festival's popular and open spirit.
The 2026 edition brings the Mirko Casadei Big Band to the Rubicone Arena in Gatteo Mare with the show «Amico Sole», a concert that blends Romagnol folk music with world music sounds. Special guest is the group Ologramma, an inclusive project that unites musicians with and without disabilities on stage.
Gatteo Mare can be reached by car from the A14 motorway (Cesena or Rimini Nord exit) and by train to Gatteo a Mare station on the Bologna–Ancona line, a few minutes' walk from the Rubicone Arena (Via Antonio Gramsci).
Show starts at 9:30 PM.
Free admission until capacity is reached.
