A Sunday of crafts, local flavors, and music through the village streets
The Bairo Spring Market is one of the most anticipated events of the season in the small town of Bairo, a village in the Canavese area of Piedmont, near Turin. Recently established to complement the Pro Loco's historic Autumn Market, it has quickly become a staple of the local calendar, attracting large crowds from across the region, even when coinciding with other local festivities.
For an entire Sunday, the streets of Bairo's town center are filled with around a hundred curated stalls, showcasing handcrafted goods and excellent local food products. It is the perfect opportunity for a stroll among handmade creations, gift ideas, and regional specialties, all within a welcoming and familiar village atmosphere.
The delicious heart of the day is the food stand run by the Bairo Pro Loco, which serves its most beloved specialties: zabaglione, the true symbol of the event, along with apple fritters, pastries, and sandwiches. The food service enlivens the afternoon and accompanies visitors as they browse the stalls.
The program focuses heavily on community spirit and family fun. The afternoon is brightened by live music, while children can enjoy traditional face painting and the 'Battesimo della sella' (pony baptism), with free pony rides provided by the Scuderia Piasenti of Bairo. A mix of crafts, good food, music, and entertainment that makes the Spring Market a day designed for both adults and children.
The Spring Market complements the historic Autumn Market, the other major event organized by the Bairo Pro Loco in November. Together, these two events mark the seasons of the village and highlight its artisanal and gastronomic excellence. Although the spring version is younger, it has already won over its audience: edition after edition, the number of stalls and visitors has grown, a sign of an event now deeply rooted in the life of the Bairo community and the entire Canavese area. Even when the weather is not ideal, participation remains high, a testament to the region's affection for this village festival.
The third edition of the Bairo Spring Market took place on Sunday, April 12, 2026, along the streets of the town center, in the Canavese area near Turin. Not even the bad weather discouraged the public, who enlivened the day with shopping and active participation.
About a hundred stalls offered masterfully crafted artisanal goods and excellent food products. The music of the Savenca Folk brightened the village streets, while children had fun with face painting and the ponies from the Scuderia Piasenti of Bairo. On the culinary front, the zabaglione, apple fritters, and sandwiches prepared by the Pro Loco were, as always, a must. At the end of the day, the Pro Loco announced the autumn edition scheduled for November.
