About Badiamusica

Badiamusica is the summer chamber and sacred music festival of Alta Badia, in the province of Bolzano. For nearly twenty years, it has brought organ concerts, ensembles, duos, and trios from Italy and across Europe to the villages of Val Badia, always with free admission. In La Valle/Wengen, the festival resonates within the Domëne Moling event hall and the chapel of Santa Barbara, set against the backdrop of the Dolomites and Ladin culture.

A festival between music and the Dolomites

Badiamusica is the classical music festival of Alta Badia, which also involves the municipality of La Valle/Wengen (province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige). For nearly twenty years, it has brought a rich calendar of chamber and sacred music to the heart of the Dolomites, featuring organ concerts, wind and brass ensembles, string quartets, duos, and trios from Italy and various European countries. The founders' philosophy is rooted in a simple idea: nature as a source of inspiration for music, in a continuous dialogue between the alpine landscape and the notes.

Concerts in La Valle/Wengen

The hallmark of Badiamusica is its itinerant nature: concerts are not held in a single venue but spread across the various villages of Val Badia, occupying churches, castles, event halls, and music schools. In La Valle/Wengen, events take place in the Domëne Moling event hall (Veranstaltungssaal Domëne Moling) and the evocative chapel of Santa Barbara (Hl. Barbarakapelle), a small jewel nestled in the meadows above the village, where sacred and early music find a setting of rare intensity.

A program spanning Baroque, sacred music, and new voices

The repertoire ranges from Baroque to sacred music, from the great classics of the Viennese tradition to the rediscovery of forgotten female composers and contemporary brass and wind formations. In La Valle/Wengen, concerts often favor the intimate sounds of trios and duos, with programs that intertwine strings, winds, and voice. Listeners can follow a true journey through the history of European music, in a natural setting that amplifies the listening experience.

Free admission and Ladin culture

One of the festival's distinctive features is free admission to all concerts, making classical music accessible to both residents and tourists. Part of the Alta Badia summer calendar, Badiamusica is also an opportunity to discover the Ladin culture of La Valle/Wengen, a municipality where the Ladin language remains deeply rooted, amidst traditions, Dolomite landscapes, and the heritage of local communities.
