Chamber and sacred music in the Dolomites, in La Valle/Wengen
Badiamusica is the classical music festival of Alta Badia, which also involves the municipality of La Valle/Wengen (province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige). For nearly twenty years, it has brought a rich calendar of chamber and sacred music to the heart of the Dolomites, featuring organ concerts, wind and brass ensembles, string quartets, duos, and trios from Italy and various European countries. The founders' philosophy is rooted in a simple idea: nature as a source of inspiration for music, in a continuous dialogue between the alpine landscape and the notes.
The hallmark of Badiamusica is its itinerant nature: concerts are not held in a single venue but spread across the various villages of Val Badia, occupying churches, castles, event halls, and music schools. In La Valle/Wengen, events take place in the Domëne Moling event hall (Veranstaltungssaal Domëne Moling) and the evocative chapel of Santa Barbara (Hl. Barbarakapelle), a small jewel nestled in the meadows above the village, where sacred and early music find a setting of rare intensity.
The repertoire ranges from Baroque to sacred music, from the great classics of the Viennese tradition to the rediscovery of forgotten female composers and contemporary brass and wind formations. In La Valle/Wengen, concerts often favor the intimate sounds of trios and duos, with programs that intertwine strings, winds, and voice. Listeners can follow a true journey through the history of European music, in a natural setting that amplifies the listening experience.
One of the festival's distinctive features is free admission to all concerts, making classical music accessible to both residents and tourists. Part of the Alta Badia summer calendar, Badiamusica is also an opportunity to discover the Ladin culture of La Valle/Wengen, a municipality where the Ladin language remains deeply rooted, amidst traditions, Dolomite landscapes, and the heritage of local communities.
The 2026 edition of Badiamusica enlivens Alta Badia from July 16 to August 30 with a program spread across churches, event halls, castles, and music schools in the villages of Val Badia. In La Valle/Wengen, the Trio Erinus concert "From Roots and Wings" is scheduled for August 2 at 9:00 PM in the Domëne Moling event hall (Veranstaltungssaal Domëne Moling).
The trio consists of Sonja Wallnöfer, Alex Designori, and Anja Theiner, performing a chamber music program that intertwines folk roots with expressive flair. Like all festival events, the concert is free of charge.
