The autumn festival celebrating Primitivo wine and roasted chestnuts in the historic center of Turi
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every autumn, the historic center of Turi, a town in the province of Bari in the heart of Apulia, comes alive with Bacco per Bacco, a festival dedicated to Primitivo wine and roasted chestnuts. Established in 2014 and reaching its twelfth edition in 2025, the event has become one of the most anticipated food and wine gatherings of the autumn in the Bari area, attracting visitors from across the entire metropolitan region.
The heart of the festival beats between Piazza Sandro Pertini and Via XX Settembre, where the alleys and squares of the old town turn into a long itinerary of stalls, lights, and aromas. The format is that of a traditional village festival: you stroll with a glass in hand, sample local delicacies, listen to music, and discover the most charming corners of Turi in a convivial atmosphere that brings together residents and tourists alike.
The absolute star is the Primitivo di Turi, a robust and generous wine that reflects the territory's winemaking heritage. It is accompanied by the essential roasted chestnuts and a long parade of Apulian specialties: trònere (traditional meat rolls from Turi), panzerotti, caciocavallo impiccato, grilled meats, fried mushrooms, burratine and dairy products, pasta all'assassina, and typical sweets. A journey through the rural flavors of the Land of Bari, between street food and zero-mile products.
Bacco per Bacco is not just about gastronomy: the evenings are punctuated by live music, DJ sets, and roving performances, with plenty of room for pizzica and the folk traditions of Salento and Apulia. Along the route, you will also find craft markets and stalls featuring local products, which complete the festival's offering and showcase local excellence.
The event is organized by the Turpuglia and I Vecchi Tempi associations, with the patronage of the Apulia Regional Council and the Municipality of Turi. Admission is free, and the festival is designed for a wide audience, from families to food and wine enthusiasts.
The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced by the organizers. Historically, Bacco per Bacco takes place on a weekend in October: the detailed program, schedule, and musical line-up will be communicated on the event's official channels in the weeks leading up to the festival.
