The food and wine festival on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, in the historic center of Linguaglossa
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Piazze del Gusto is the food and wine event that brings the historic center of Linguaglossa to life every autumn. Located on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in the province of Catania, Sicily, the town hosts this three-day celebration, usually held in late October. The squares and streets become a grand tasting trail showcasing the finest local produce: Etna DOC wine, PDO extra virgin olive oil, the prized Etna hazelnut, and the famous salsiccia al ceppoโa traditional sausage made with pork, lard, natural casing, salt, pepper, and fennel seeds.
The event is spread across several locations in the heart of Linguaglossa, each dedicated to a specific specialty:
Beyond the food and wine stands, Piazze del Gusto offers cooking shows with renowned Sicilian chefs and pastry chefs, masterclasses, conferences on wine and oil culture, exhibitions, entertainment for children, and plenty of live music. Evenings conclude with concerts and DJ sets, while daytime activities include vineyard hikes, walks, and guided tours to discover the landscape and heritage of this Etnean town.
Promoted by the Municipality of Linguaglossa with the patronage of the Metropolitan City of Catania and the collaboration of local producers, merchants, artisans, schools, and associations, the event has quickly become a landmark for the food and wine culture of the Etna region. Entry to the wine & food areas and conferences is free; tastings are paid for on-site. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced: the event is expected in October 2026, and the program will be published by the Municipality on the official website.
The 2026 edition of Piazze del Gusto is scheduled for October in Linguaglossa (Catania), on the northern side of Mount Etna. At the moment, the Municipality has not yet published the official dates or the program: more details are expected on the official event website in the weeks leading up to the event. Following the success of previous editions, the appointment is expected to confirm the food and wine trail format through the squares of the historic center, featuring Etna DOC wine, PDO extra virgin olive oil, Etna hazelnuts, and the traditional 'salsiccia al ceppo' sausage.
Linguaglossa is located on the northern side of Mount Etna, in the province of Catania. By car, it can be reached via the A18 Messina-Catania motorway (Fiumefreddo exit) and then the SS120. The nearest train station on the Messina-Catania line is Fiumefreddo-Linguaglossa. The reference airport is Catania-Fontanarossa.
Entry to the wine & food areas and conferences is free. Tastings at the food and wine stands are paid for on-site.
Food and wine stands are generally open from the afternoon until late evening (roughly from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, with events also taking place in the morning on weekends).
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes for walking between the squares of the historic center and being prepared for the cool temperatures typical of autumn on Mount Etna.
